Concerning all warranty information. My name is Josh Novotny, and I am the team manager for Dynastar USA. Hopefully this post will clear up all questions about our warranty policy. Dynastar’s (and all other companies) warranty policy covers breakage due to manufacturer’s defects. Unfortunately even the best-built skis can break on rails; that is not a manufacturer’s defect. A ski hasn’t been made that doesn’t break on a rail; believe me Dynastar is trying.

Any product in question of warranty needs to be sent back to our service center so that our shop technicians can decide why the product broke. It is that simple. All ski companies follow this path. There is just no better way to do it. Dynastar makes a big effort to respond to warranty questions quickly and fairly.

If you want a solution to damaging your new skis on rails, do what our pro-team athletes do, keep an older pair that is worked, and just use that pair on rails. I hope this helps everyone with questions on this. Keep skiing, and we’ll help you as best we can.

Why do you guys advertise your skis showing them on rails then? If a guy railsliding on a pair of trouble makers is your add then how can you say hitting a rail is not normal use?

The reason we show skiers on rails is because that is what they do. Skateboards break when you do enough rails on them as well, its just advertising. We do not say that rails are 'not natural use' we are just not covering rail breakage in our warranty. As far as titanium edges, well the rockwell titanium is softer than the steel we use for our edges. But we are exploring a bunch of ideas for our edges.

what would happen if used used diamonds on edges? like on saws. Would this be effective, because it makes saws more durable. I'm sure it would be expensive though.

haha yea smuggs has broken many a pair of skis, ive broken the concepts too, it took me a while and im surprised that they lasted that long too, but overall im VERY stoked on dynastar shit.

fer the wreckord ive broken vinny d 1080s, candides, 2002 concepts, and 2003 concepts, and at camp i fuked up a pair of rubber topsheet scratches in 2 days. just so you can compare the sickness of the trouble maker. they have no base damage, the have no major damage to topsheet, the arent pressure cracked.

edges are made of steel. They cane be too hard or you wouldnt be able to sharpen them.

Sliding rails is what some skier do. Yes, it puts marks on your skis and dulls out ur edges a little. Who cares. Rails dont break your skis, landing flat breaks skis.

Also and glue causes breakage, so if they break send them back and hope for some luck.

that spot in the middle where you ride rails should be a whole piece of metal going all the way acrss...itd be heavier tho

wut if skis are two seasons old, lik the green concepts, and both tips are delaminating now, could i get warranty on that, even though there 2 years old, i only used em one season too, i baught em cheap at the end of last season.

Thanks again for the Volkls, Josh... good skis until both of them broke at Whistler. But they held up well before that.

Ok, you couldnt use the carbon blades on hacksaws. Though they cat cut metal when moving at high speeds, they are, in fact really soft, almost like heavy cardboard or plastic. I know this from building a lot of rails over the years. First of all, when constructing them they cannot be smooth as one piece, so if they were to be edges they would have to be all coarse. The best idea so far has been the single metal plate, I think that would work pretty well.

 
yea, the only downside to a sold metal plate is you would have one fucked up flex pattern. thats prolly another reason they dont make edges out of 1/2' thick solid steel, yea they would hold up forever, but the ski would ride like a stiff racestock ski and most of the people on it would not even be able to flex it. i wanna know what ever happen to the atomic plasma edges? I get those skis in the shop from time to time and it take a hell of alot to tune them up, cuase the edges are so dam burl.
