Dying ski pants black....help!!!!

yo guys, i have some grey saga pants that I'm looking to dye black. any tips on this from people that have dyed outerwear before or have heard of anything of it please pass on the info. I've seen an old thread where people talk of using RIT dye.....however i've also heard this causes the material to loose its waterproofing. i've also read an article which mentions just dying the fabric with normal clothes dye....this doesn't sound right though!

any tips?
 
It does take away waterproofing. As far as rit dye vs clothing dye I'm not sure bit rit due does work. You might have to redye it to get tue right shade of black
 
It seems like it may be difficult to dye something intended to repel water...post pics of the results!
