so which camcorder format is the best? i definatly need a new camcorder and i hear that with a dvd camcorder you can just pop the cd into your computer and away you go.

No Props!

I used to have a DVD cam and I didn't like it as much as a DV cam. But I don't remember it being as easy as just popping it into the computer.

yeah mini dv. watching your footage is a little more conveniant on DVD but its not worth it

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ is one of the best online stores. I got my camera from a ebay store, and that worked out real good and was a little cheaper.

Best cameras... under about 800- pana gs250, under about 1200- pana gs400, under about 2000- sony hc1

oh that place has retard ppl and customer service. The idiots said they delivered somthing one day and it never came. so my mom spent almost 5 hours onthe phone with them trying to get it fixed

i heard you onyl ahve 30 misn of recording time with a dvd

anyway minidv is just as easy plug in the fire-wire and you should be fine

Uh, the HC1 is definitely not on that list for a few reasons. Not the least of which is that it's an HDV camera and getting outfitted for hdv will cost a lot more than $2000.

the hc1 is not "true" hd. It records in a compressed format so that it fits on a mini dv tape. You only need a newer high end editing program like final cut pro.

You also need much more room to store the footage as HDV takes quite a bit more harddrive space when editing.

And needing an HD capable program adds to the expense. That's why I was saying that it doesn't really belong.
