DVD resolution

What resolution is considered dvd quality? I am looking for a new camera and wondering what resolution I should look for.

well resolution is basically nothing cause normal tv resolution is around 550 so anything over that doesnt matter, what really makes the difference is lens quality and ccd size, if you want a really good digi cam go with a 3 ccd one

get a 3 ccd if you know you're gonna be serious about filming, or have the money to blow over 2000 on a cam. if not, do your research and then find a good 1 ccd cam.

Ahh, what I meant is when you pop a dvd into your computer, what resolution does it play at? Cause my camera claims its 'DVD resolution' but in fact, it only films at about 320x2 something.

hmm what camera is this?

the resolution varies if i am correct. Most of the ones you see are 640x480, or 720x480 because that is the resoution that DV is captured at. As for the 16mm and 35mm movies im not sure but i do not believe it is much different.
