The VXs have a clearer image, but what some people do is willingly sacrifice image clarity for something that shoots something more film-like (GL2) like I do.

I've seen some really dope shit come from the DVC-30s too.

you shouldnt base it off one persons clips, i think you should do lotsa lotsa more research. I did research for about 2 months before buying the dvc30

ive done that for like 2 months now to... its just so hard to fine any clips, but i did find clips from the dvc30, and i def think the gl2 is better now

hey! on that video the dvc30 looks alot better... could be because its better light on the dvc30 clips tho

Ok heres the thing. The GL2's colors get ragged on so much and skateperception is not a very reliable source because they're just say "get a vx." they say that it is the best overall camera in every aspect just because it has the widest fisheye capabilites. the vx's colors are dope, but every shot I've seen in a skate movie with a vx looks like total shit in my opinion. This is because theres some nice colors, but its in 60i, which I think is really ugly, so i can't watch skate movies without getting pissed at the filmer. I've gotten colors with my GL2 that I've never seen a VX attain, and I love it.

the last three were, but the first three weren't. You can tell by that shot of the kid with the Oakleys. the darks are too green and if i had color corrected them I would've warmed em up. I love the sunny day colors I can get out of it, like the first pic. The GL2 is an awsome camera but only if you really know what you're doing and know every loophole and feature like the back of your hand.

Theres not many fish eyes for the DVC30..The GL2 and Vx2100 there are alot of good lense you can buy for them.

well is it even worth it to buy a DVC30 or GL2 if they are absolete becuase of the Vx2100?... we always have filmed with one and its sick... but i was thinking about getting my own and i thought that these two seemed like good choices.

Yeah, Perception is the best resource you could possibly use to find out info on the cams.

They've both got 1/4" chips, so that's really not a question. As far as low light, the Panny has got a 4 lux setting versus the 6 lux on the Canon (Canons are kind of notorious for their lowlight performance). From my experience (I've used both) I've found the DVC30 to simply be a more versatile and durable camera. Plus, everyone on Perception who uses one loves theirs.

yo man, try turning the sharpness to like 3 notches to the left of center, and check out how it looks. it looks illllllllllll.

im searching dvc30 becuase im looking into it and i came across this thread. those are dope colors tanaka, but you said check out these dope colors adn posted a B/W shot haha. does anyone know if the dvc30 hasd real 30p or framerate like the gl2?

the dvc30 has a frame mode not real progressive. i dont bother with it because the footage looks fucked up and choppy. that could be because i am not very experienced with it though.

i loveeee my dvc30, you can get suchchchchchhc nice foooty out of it when you know how. and you can get the baby death lense. sick!

i just brought back a old thread because look at the technowledgy we have now....Dvc30 vs.gl2 haha

although you can get great colors from the gl2, it is pretty much impossible to get bad colors with a panasonic. The dvc30 will give you a much easier time getting really defined colors than a gl2

haha! I posted in this before I discovered how effin' awesome Panasonic cams were. dvc30 destroys GL2.
