hey! Just wanna know something a lot of people told me diferent thigs, If u have a helmet, how do u know when is really weak to stop using it, I know that when it breaks thats it , its done but, if it doesent break, and for example u had a few bad falls over the season, how do u know whens the time to buy anotherone?

Thanks!

according to ski patrol it is 2 major impacts. But i think it is more like 3 to 4 major impacts. I had 4 major impacts on my last one and on my 5th my helmet cracked open. so i would say like 3

Almost every helmet on the market is a single impact helmet, meaning after 1 hard impact it is sopossed to be thrown out and replaced. POC and boeri both make multiple impact helmets that are meant to take a few falls before needing to be replaced.

question...sorry to jack thread but on my helmet giro gx10 iv used it for a few seaons and had a bunch of high impacts on it and some real big ones now theres some dents in it and watnot but not cracked should i replace it?

It's as simple as this. Helmets life lines are about 3years, this means 3years after being made, so it doesn't matter if it sits on your shelf for 2years, you should only use it for 1more year.
This is a standard across all sports, and driving and everything.
One big Impact then throw away, it's that simple.

If there are any depressions in the plastic outside, or foam inside, its done. and if there are any gashes or bad scratches that weaken the outside, its toast as well.

surpisingly, i got the smith circut helmet, and it has been golden for a season and a half now, great helmet.

my hifi has like 8 dents in it all over the left side
unlike what everybody else is saying it does the job fine
but by job i mean get me into my local terrain park where it is mandatory to have one

doesn't it depend on what type of helmet it is? i mean there's regular helmets and multiple impact helmets which are supposed to take more hits. example: a bern hardhat should take 2-3 hits tops and bern eps should take more. can someone confirm this?

I get what ur saying, its better than nothing once ur in the park, but it would be just a piece of plastic, not a helmet, have u ever had a high impact? with this thread I ment to see how much diference it makes by changing ur helmet once its done. and Im sure it does.

last year i was running a race course and thats where i put down probably 3 of the dents then i've gone head to rail a few times
as far as really big serious impacts i dont think ive had to many of those
