Dumont vs. Suspect

I have been seeing a lot of threads on which one is better (for them). Just thought I would help people to sotp clogging the system with these threads and first suggest search bar. But also, heres a comparision between the two that should enable you to make the decision yourself. Enjoy!

^from what i've heard he's right.

and whereever you got that link, its wrong, i'm pretty sure the dumont specs are all wrong (117-83-110). i think the one on the left is describing the 08 dumont with the 09 picture. it also says monocoque double wall (salomons term for cap construction i think?), which would be wrong too haha.
the suspect one seems right though.

ps- IMO the 08 dumont is better. salomon played around with cap monocoque skis for 10 years, and the end result was the 08 dumont...which was a really nice ski (unlike all the foam core salomons).
and as soon as they perfected it, they got rid of the 08 dumont design and started making sidewall skis, which they have no experience in. /end rant
 
Word..should have kept the 08 Dumont. And they deffinetly did mix up the Dumonts..Im just suprised that backcountry would make that big of a mistake.
 
same ski except the douchemonts have dub edge armour, and they have douchemont on them, thats the main reason i wouldnt buy those skis
 
thats bang on!..just had a clinic with the repps and they said your paying an extra 100 b0nes for the extra 'edge armor' in the base whci is just a second wire going from edge to edge in a zigzag ( 2 in dumont 1 in suspect)..plus the suspect top sheet is doper!
 
well considering dumont himself is using last years ski aswell. i would say the 08is a better ride. that being said, this years 1080 decade IS LAST YEARS DUMONT. its the exact same ski, just a different grafic.
 
Making it oficially the sickest 1080 ever..im happy to see they didnt just throw that sidewall construction out the window
 
is there truth to that 1080 claim?
and i think that is a horrible idea from a marketing standpoint...having dumont ski on last years ski even if he does like it more...
he should at least be on his fav ski with this years topsheet...like alot of pros do.
 
yes, total truth. i talked to the solli rep about it.

and dumont is skiing on last years ski, with this years graffic. just to cover his ass. there is a pic of it in freeskiier
 
no i've heard its actually the thruster with a full wood core. and yes, the thruster is the same dimensions as the dumont, but internally they are laid up completely differently. i guess the thrusters have more carbon weave rather than stringers, so it was a little softer and had more pop, while the dumonts were a little stiffer and more damp. and i guess the 1080s are the same construction as thrusters, just with a complete wood core instead of some foam. so the 1080s will be softer than the 08 dumonts.
 
the ontario solli rep told me that this years 1080 decade, is infact the exact same ski as last years dumont.
 
i got the suspect but the salomon guy said its the same ski aside from the graphics. the only difference is that the suspect has single edge armour and the dumont has double edge armour. other than that its the same thing
 
so which is better 08 dumont/ 09 1080 or the 09 suspect? im deciding between those and the volkl walls for a mid stiff park ski that can land big jumps but still jib well.
 
Kinda wondering about the same thing.... Well, I have heard that the dumont 09 is stiffer then suspect... Can anyone confirm this?

Or have anyone actually tried the skis? suspect vs dumont 09.....?
 
I got last year dumont and they are very good. if you can get them buy them or buy the 1080 of this years i try them and its the same thing as my dumont
 
08 dumont and 09 1080 are the exact same skis.
this being said id go with the 1080. its cheaper, better ride, and not everybody on the hill will have them.
