Dumont vs. pipe cleaner vs. spk vs. karma for the pipe

I think I am going to get one of these, which one is better for speed and the pipe. (not much rails) Also would be nice for tables...
 
PC has a race base so they are super fast. If you get them you shouldn't do rails at all though, the base will get torn up. I would go with the spk if your gonna want them as an all purpose park ski.
 
spk is also a ski which was designed with pipe in mind. The spk is the same ski as the 1080 candides and cr's from preveious seasons those 2 skis had races bases but i dono if they kept them on the spk. so seeing that the spk and the pipe cleaner are both pipe skis id say its a toss up between those two. But i give the advantage to the spk because it has thicker edges so it will serve you well as a park ski after you are done rididng it the pipe. it posibly could be your park ski for the folowing season.
 
Stay away from the pipe cleaner, that thing is WAY too soft for a pipe ski.

Tanner doesn't use it for pipe, and even when he did, he used special ones that were custom built, stiffer (especially in the tail) than the ones that are sold.

 
my pipe cleaners didn't make it through a season of just skiing pipe on them.

get the dummonts there such a nice ski
 
pipe cleaners are pretty stiff....and you can watch any X-games video and he has them....may be custon built not sure bout that fact .but he has them for the most telivised event.

basically there fast and only believe people about skis about there oppnions...pipe cleaners are the only ones ive ridden but there turning out nice

and on another note there the same demintions almost exactly to next years chronics just to throw that out there
 
Well. if you call that "pretty stiff" you might want to get out to the gym or something, because the pipe cleaner is super soft. Maybe they would be an ok pipe ski for someone extremely light, but that's about it.

And at the X-Games, Tanner's equipment manager Dano had 5 or 6 different pairs of skis at the top of the pipe for Tanner, all with custom flexes, so the point is, what Tanner uses in the pipe are NOT the pipe cleaners that the average person can buy, not even close.
 
I got to ski the dumonts at caledon, spent most of my afternoon on them. Fun ski for ontario... to soft for tremblant or anything bigger.

In all seriousness you want to get the Nordica Ignitions. Full side wall, rock solid torrisonally so the edge holds super well. Plus they're 85mm in the waist so they work well as an all mountain ski.
 
The SPK's definitely have a race base. And they were originally designed as the team pipe ski. Same ski as the "Foil's" dumont won the pipe comp on a few years ago. And same as the CR and Candide labs. Also the same as the 1080's withe the orange top sheet and all black bottom with just the Salomon logos on the tip and tail. It is what all the Salomon riders have been using in the pipe for about 5 years. Not sure if Dumont was actually using Dumonts this year though, most likely not a stock dumont, probably also an SPK with the dumont top sheet or something. Like the SPK's with the foil top sheet.
 
I love my Pipe Cleaner, it is the best all around park ski i have ever ridden, super fast and stable, i have hit lots of boxes and they are fine, mad speed and pop in the pipe - get em
 
if you weigh 135 get the pipe cleaners for sure. unless you like really stiff skis... but i think that the flex of the pipe cleaner at your weight would give you the response you're looking for.
 
fuck all of those skis. if your lookin for a pipe/jump ski, get troublemakers. youll shit a brick when you see how much pop they have outta trannies. best pipe ski ever made.
