Dumont landing on one ski

in the semis or prelims or whatever they are called of slopestyle simon dumont tweaked his grab so hard on the last jump while doing i ten that it fell off yet he continued the full rotation landed and rode away all on one ski. now why the hell didn't he make the finals? that was one of the craziest things i've ever seen and the rest of the run was good enough.

Slopestyles are about being clean. Pulling your ski off means you need a higher din on your binding, not that you're a good monoskier. there are better skiers out there than simon dumont. Like everyone in the finals plus more. breaking a few records doesn't make you a god

Dunno about that but I do remember at x qualifiers a few years ago at Breck when either Chris Booth or Mike wilson landed a jump but one ski released yet he kept going and hit a down rail with about a 20 foot gap to it on one ski.

while it was sick to see, he did technically fuck up his jump. I'm guessing somewhere in the judges books theres something about landing with all the equipment they took off with.

either way, it was a fall. he was trying to pull some ssx shit and just couldn't get that second ski up and over his head

That def wasn't the dumbest thing said on this board, but it was pretty fucking dumb. I'm sure he went out there with a din of 5 and it popped off (sarcasm), c'mon man think. He seriously prob just pulled it off on a mute grab, from what i remember it was like a 900 or a 1080 on the last jump, and he was having a real clean run that woulda got him into the next round I think, and he was just holding that grab as tight as he coiuld and prob pulled as tight as he could. This lead to it popping off. Use your brain man.

he didnt do it on purpose. it was a mistake, nobody should get extra points for a mistake like that. it was cool as shit though

I forgot i wanted to mention this in my last post. It fell off, so if you lose a piece of equipment while riding that is not a clean run. It's not the same situation; but when tom wallisch got docked points for not having polls in some contest last season.... I have a feeling that falls in some sort of the same category of missing equipment.
In the end we were all hoping he got into the next round because it was cool as shit, but he didn't finish a "clean run" unfortunately.

thats cool whatever. but if they had given it to him. next thing you know everyone would be pulling off their skis waving them around. and some new tricks would be invented.... maybe this is a good idea.

I agree with you... I just checked the youtube slowmo and you'll see that Dumont just is torqueing the shit out of his grab..it's ridiculous.

I don't know how he or ANYONE could've pulled off jumping 65 ft, spinning and mute grab, have midflight turbulance, SCRAMBLE and land on one ski...and then ski out the rest of the way, a good 50ft or so...NUTZ!!

even though dumont landing on one ski after doing that was pretty fricken sick it still doesn't mean that he should have moved on. It was technically a mess up by him and he payed for it. and besides it's not like he needs another medal....especially after big air.....

remember last year some snowboarder unhooked his back foot and went off the jump. I was hoping to see more of that on the snowboard side.

his binding also came off at the MSO3 slopestyle, he ended up grinding a falt down flat rail and hitting the last jump on one ski.

that makes a ton of sense! i was wondering why simon didnt get a ton of points for that landing but reading this makes alot of sense. and also sheds light on why you should have poles in a comp. even though no poles is sick and steezy it is like missing a piece of equipment. ++k i didnt think about the missing equipment concept.

i hate to say this but look at the MEGA MO. your correct. his binding fucked up, and he tweaked the fuck out of the grab. it was amazing to watch in slow motion not intentional at all, anyone who thinks that is a fuck head blinded by double fronts. it did take some amazing athleticism to stay up though

His skis were just about parallel the wrong way when his binding released. And I wouldn't have docked him for that if I were judging because he skied away like he was on two skis.

I like what simon said after his score came up... he had a long week and was ready for a break anyway and didn't really mind. I just hope there wasn't any judges retaliation for his big air win...

Corey Roberts did a nine at kids next snow search finals in keystone or what ever the hell it was and a ski came off dude still stomped the shit out of it and rode that shit out...and then johhny mosley ran up going nuts and shit

Personally i think its kind of a toss up whether he should have advanced or not cause he did stomp the landing and that is a difficult thing to do. Yeah maybe he didnt have all his equipment but still if there judging on difficulty i think it could have been fair game.

okay he didn't stomp it and ride away cleanly because he pulled off his ski. next time he shouldn't tweak the grab so hard if he wants to go to finals.

what the 2000? did anyone see a switch or rightside spin? Proof that someone can regress in skiing

His 05 run was waaayyyy better
