Duck footed

I know there's a few threads on TGR discussing this if you do a quick search over there. I know I'd trust that type of mounting advice from them way before I took any information from here.
 
It's way easier to set up your boots that way than mount your bindings with a duck-stance. As a ski tech, I'd be fucking pissed if someone asked for it. I'm going to charge you 80 bucks and if you don't bring in a 30 pack, then fuck you.
 
Most upperend fischers have whats called soma tec, its basically a more 'natural' stance in the boot. Pretty much everyone hates em, unless you have skinny ass feet like me.
 
fuck i love my fischers. I have skinny ass feet and i really love having a boot with a 120 flex index. It just feels like i have more grip on the mountain. It kicks ass. Anywho... the moral of the story is i love my boots and am duck footed
 
my feet are really naturally duckfooted, just the way my ankles are, I doubt I would get that though because the only real issue I have is that I kind of ride on my outside edges when not turning.
 
everyone is naturally duckfooted a little bit. I wouldnt change the positioning of the bindings, but the fischer boots do have a good setup with the soma tech. especially if your knees are fucked (like mine). It just makes your knees position right over your feet when you bend them, so that you're not putting as much strain on the joint. I'd really like to get some fischer boots just for that, but so far I haven't found any that are reallt comfortable, so i'd have to do a shitload of work on them.
 
I am pretty sure that is bow-legged when your heels are closer together then your toes

I remeber some "pro" making a thread about this

It makes sense because on the lift your skis go bow-legged/ making a V shape

I ride my ANTs ducked, they are as ducked as i can get them, sidewall to sidewall. I can get some photos if you'd like.

Now i love riding duck, although on piste they take a while to get used to, your lean is on the outside of your little toe so it feels strange, but i didn't do it for piste.

In pow is fantastic, it such a natural stance, there is much less pressure on your knees and all over it feels more natural. It hasn't worsened my skiing, if anything i feel better and more confident.

There is an argument that mounting duck can cause pre releasing because of the angle/pressure exerted on the bindings. I have never had any issues with this and will be mounting all my pow skis duck in the future...

Really consider it.

It is not super ducked, if i had wider skis i would probably take it out another 6degrees. But when i'm on a chair and let my legs hang, they sit virtually parallel under me and that is what you are aiming for, a true angle that reduces pressure on your knees.
 
damn that is sick. did a shop do that for you? and did they bitch about it? i need to get some fatties and put alpine bindings on them rather than my dukes so i can try this. i bet its a knee saver
 
It is so good on the knees, you wouldn't believe.

I did it myself, borrowed a jig from a shop to get the stamp pattern and worked out the angles using insulation tape with a biro line on to show the vertical and horizontal then worked the angle out on a block of wood, and cut it, then aligned it all with the jig pattern and went at it.
 
It's all good in theory but I have two issues with it:

Stresses will be put on the ski's core at an angle instead of stright along it. There's be some sort of twisting forces going on there which might not be good.

No choice of which ski goes on which foot if you've got some edge damage.

Doing it in boots is a better solution. Some WC boots have a toes-out stance now so that'sa good indicator that it's worthwhile performance-wise.
