Dubuque Skiing to not suck so bad?

In the past Sundown ski and snowboard resort was like a wart on the face of Midwest skiing. For those of you who don't know about it, its in Iowa and is in serious need of some help. The owners of the resort are both in their mid 90s and are the only reason that inverted flips aren't allowed at Sundown. And the place is run by 12 year olds.

This year however, Sundown is building a new lodge and supposedly a hotel to go with it. They are also trying to work out a deal with the land owners next to the resort often referred to as "The Squatches" to acquire the land to the North of the resort. If this deal is to go through it would triple the size of the resort. The purchase of the land was actually finalized and agreed on verbally two years ago, but the man who owned the land passed away and his children failed to honor the agreement their father made.

So, if Sundown were to actually get better and make their freestyle terrain better and the owners were to somehow be not in charge there anymore. Do you think that Sundown could possibly rise to the level of a nice resort like Chestnut or even Tyrol?

I live in Davenport and find that when I do want to go to a better park than snowstars I always end up going to chestnut. The jumps at sundown aren't shaped as well, the park is typically poorly maintained, and ski patrol is a huge pain there. It would take a lot more than just new terrain to get me to go back to sundown. As OP mentioned the park is more of a daycare. The amount of little kids who don't know proper etiquette is crazy. Maybe it would be beneficial to implement a sort of park pass. Charge maybe 5 dollars extra that would go directly to park crew and have a mandatory safety quiz of sorts.

I talked to the park crew about how the jumps suck and the guy that I talked to said its because they only get 1 snowcat for only a couple hours a week. I think it just keeps coming back to the owners who hate it when people leave the ground. I still don't think the hitmen are a bad idea

The jumps are perfect for backflips but I've been kicked out twice for doing them.
