Dubstep

How do you feel about the recent uprise of dubstep. I know its been around for years but how do you guys feel about it getting so mainstream and over used? I really wish I knew about it before it got so big.

They're all talking about how good it is, I personally think it is overused and I am starting to not like it.

Some people over emphasize the womp, others focus on big beat drops, and theres all that cool little fluff in the middle. I like certain artists that are able to blend all of these into something thats not just a simple beat repeated over and over again. If you find a good artist that is ready to follow the flow of the crowd (true in all music), then you usually have no choice but to have a good time.
I saw Pretty Lights (includes dubstep elements) on November 6th, and while the crowd was going nuts, it didn't feel personal at some points. The encore felt canned, and once he was done with that, he just left the crowd wanting more. A true artist would have listened to the crowd and played more, because kids were really were going nuts.

Its HUGE in Colorado. I personally love it, its such a unique genre of music and its great to rage to..
Heres a song that Ive been diggin lately.. Most of Datsik's shit is pretty sick.

He would have most likely played more, but my guess is that he ran into a time limit and the club told him he had "X" amount of time left to play. That's usually how a lot of concerts work, it's mostly not up to the artist.

I could care less if it gets popular, my only real complaint is that the shows are starting to fill up with high school sluts that eat too many drugs and do really sketchy things. Not such a great vibe...

I think DNB, Drumstep >> Dubstep. But I still love both. I'll just leave these here cause this thread is super dumb.

i can't wait for 5 years from now when everyone looks back at dubstep and says, "GOD WHAT WERE WE THINKING LOL!"

This is a strong word. Some of us have already been listening to electronic music well over 5 years... Just sayin.

I'm sure thats what happened actually, I just didn't like shuffling out of the club before midnight just as the acid was picking up haha.

Theres alot of bullshit. most of what gets put up on here is just fucking womp music. Theres really sick shit coming out of the uk and some dirty stuff here as well but you have to know what your looking for

yup and now we got all these kids descending on the scene claiming to know something about electronic music all of a sudden

Inappropriate time to use this. I was simply stating a fact... And in response to your other post: cool story, thats just fine, no one is asking you to like it...

It kind of irritates me when people are like OMG I LISTEN TO DUBSTEP ITS SO AWESOME.

One kid said that to me, and I asked him to name three good dubstep songs, and he said, Pro Nails (rusko remix), a deadmau5 song that wasn't even dubstep, and starry eyed (jakwob remix). I just laughed to his face and walked away.

Don't get me wrong, I love dubstep and its really fun discovering ill new beats, but I hate when people jump on the bandwagon and have no clue what they are even talking about or only know the over played shitty stuff. /rant

lololol. we need a creative funny name to describe these people. I guess you could call them Bro-steppers. I think thats pretty accurate.

I seriously doubt it. Dubstep is an acquired taste, its like coffee or beer. It takes some warming up to but once you like it your hooked.

started out liking dnb now i can't stand it for the most part

love dubstep tho

bassnectar and datsik know where it's at

Skream knows all this is where I jacked the term from:

Scroll to about halfway down someone posted the whole interview:

http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=163864&start=0

"Definitely a different reception. They [US fans] like the bangers and the brostep. I play bangers and some different shit, and it doesn’t go down so well, but at least they hear it… but I do like the States. They go crazy. It’s hard not to play bangers because they go so nuts"

Idk if your joking but if not your are one of the aforementioned "brosteppers" Bassnectar isnt dubstep bassnector is sweaty womp music at his best

bassnectar's dope so idgaf

and if bassnectar isn't then what is dubstep cuz i'm really fucking confused now

it's so awesome that my buddy and I printed "Death to Dubstep" tees and they sold out in less than 12 hours.

How does a genre of music becoming popular make it worse? Just because dubstep is fairly mainstream now doesn't mean that there isn't FILTHY dubstep out there now...

It seems that once something becomes mainstream it instantly becomes bad... dubstep is becoming mainstream because its tight! Thats a good thing!

my 2 cents

Bassnectar make a shit ton of different styles. he does make some dubstep. Datsik makes dubstep obvi.

The first were pretty much Skream, Benga, Hatcha, etc...

Everyone should read this interview, its pretty great:

as well, listen to the mix. Its oldschool Skream mix, before dubstep was even a word. Midnight Request line is the hardest song on the mix, but it is oooh so dark and Brooding which is what Dubstep was originally about.

This is a dirty mix. Skream and Benga ar nasty.. Joker is by far my favorite producer of all fucking time.

Joker is the shit!

If you are into darker shit, Have you heard Kryptic Minds and/or Breakage? theyve been my obsession lately. Kryptic minds is like the darkest fucking shit ever. I get bad feeling in my stomach listening to it. Fuck it, I'll just post some.
