Dubstep has officially died.

It's like internet memes being used on facebook. Once everyone starts doing it it becomes lame. Super hipster of me I know.

i'm already not a fan of the electronic music mumbo jumbo that has been taking over all you little ones.....this just goes to show

Well lots of genres have christian artists, I think this is cool, because it shows that dubstep and edm in general are becoming more recognized outside of its normal community? Just rambling really, but hopefully you understand what I am getting at.

Nope I didnt say that. But I did love what Dave Grohl, lead singer of the foo fighters, had to say about music these days (last night at the Grammys while accepting best rock album of the year)

"This album was a special one for us. Instead of going to the best studio possible or using the best computers you can buy, we recorded this one in my basement with a bunch of microphones and a tape machine......to me this award is important because it shows the human element is stil what's most important in making music. Singing into a microphone and learning how to play an instrument, do your craft. That's the most important thing. it's not about being perfect, it's not about sound absolutely correct. AND IT'S NOT ABOUT WHAT GOES ON IN A COMPUTER THAT'S IMPORTANT. It's about what goes on in here ( points to heart ) and in here ( ponts to mind) that's all that matters"

I agree whole heartedly with that. Doesn't make me cooler than anyone. I just think the music that takes soul is the kind of music that will last a lifetime. Not all this lifeless bleep and beep.

A computer doesn't have a heart

Its interesting how everyone is so quick to deem my statement false yet offers no argument, or any kind of supporting knowledge, to make a point.
What I meant by "It doesn't really exist" was that dubtep (Im not talking about the south UK artist that have been around since the early 90's, to all the 25 year old fucks that I have seemed to have angered, im talking about the sound that the mainstream artist have created since around 2007) had been a crude convergence of other genres like drum and bass, grime, 2-step, etc.

I found out about dubstep when I was 12 years old, this was the first mix I ever downloaded and It will always be my favorite, my interest in the genre pretty much plateaued. I don't know much about the history of it, and my interests plateaued a few months after getting into it.
The mix (took me a while to find):http://www.tribemagazine.com/board/dj-mixes/154023-dubstep-numbernin6-formal-introduction.html

If you know so much about the UK music scene with DnB, Grime, Garage and Dubstep then surely you would say that it didnt exist before 2007? When someone says Dubstep to me I think of Sub Bass minimal sounds. Early "Dubstep" sounds. So when you say that Dubstep didnt start till 2007 your just being ignorant. How old are you btw? if you were 12 when you discovered dubstep, and that mix was posted in 2008 you cant be much older than 16. Now im not saying that has anything to do with your ignorance but surely you havnt been into the scene long enough to know where it came from.

As oddly enough that sounds, I think it's partially true. Dubstep is such a new genre that it was solely pushed to fame by hipsters. This resulted in it becoming hipster music. That being said, it has now gone mainstream which, according to hipsters, is death for them. So ask a hipster or someone who was a fan of Dubstep before it became mainstream (me, claim?) and yes, it is dead. But ask the average high school/college kid and since they have just recently heard of it, it is just beginning. So what I'm trying to say here is that it's dead for one group of people but is being reborn for another group.

The sound that mainstream dubstep has now will die but not entirely, it will just merge with other forms of electronic music and be washed down into one massive genre. Thats all it is now, electronic music. Its not Dubstep. Dubstep for true OG fans will never die, It's deep, It's dark and its minimal. Percussion driven, with low sub bass dub sounds

Im 17. I thought I mentioned in my second post that I knew little to nothing, let alone even listen to dubstep... Anyways, you seem to be an expert on the subject so I can see why anything I say would seem ridiculous and stupid. All I was trying to say was that "dubstep" has been transformed by the mainstream into a genre that started in 2007, something that is completely different from what you and other hardcore "dubsteppers" (or whatever you call yourselves...) hold so dearly (the post 2007 scene)
Im sorry if it is difficult to come to terms with any of this, if you still don't believe me, go out onto the street and ask people what they think dubstep is. You should receive a pretty disappointing answer.

I wouldnt get dissapointed, because trust me, i know what the answer was. In you second post you just made it sound like you knew what you were talking about.

You missed the entire point of his speech. Considering the fact that he then proceeded to do a collaborative remix at the Grammy's with Deadmau5, hes not against electronic music. He was referring to things like autotuned "singers" who cant hold a tune without a computer, whose material is entirely ghostwritten and has no soul in it. Good electronic music producers have a ton of musical knowledge, their instrument is simply a computer, not a guitar. Yes brostep with nothing but massive wobbles takes no talent, and neither does the hack David Guetta that they had on last night.

A computer doesnt have a heart. And a guitar does? Its a bunch of strings hooked up to a pickup and an amp. It doesnt have soul, the person using it does. What a moronic statement.

False. Go ahead, I'd like to see you make a dubstep song that people would actually listen to or mix a song, or produce a song, or remix a song... I could go on.

Is it musical talent? Yes.

Is it the same as, say, playing the guitar or singing? Hell no.

Bottom line is that these guys are talented and its goons like you who don't give them the respect they deserve that make me, and a lot of others, mad.

Example: my brother is a very talented guitarist and very musically gifted and talented. He is also into producing, mixing, and writing electronic and dubstep. Without his previous musical talent he simply would not have been able to do the things he does now on his computer.

It is my opinion that this genre is empty

Hate all you want. I think the intentions behind the sounds are twisted and its all starting to blur together. - And about the Dave Grohl speech. I wasn't sayingHE WAS AGAINST ELECTRONIC MUSIC I was using what he said as a way to express my opinion because it was so well put

Im on your side. My point is that even amongst electronic music, brostep takes far less talent than "true" dubstep, house, trance, etc. It still takes a degree of talent, but not the same. Regardless to say that electronic musicians arent talented or have no soul is idiocy. Except David Guetta. He has no soul.

You probably think dubstep is this...

And this...

/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

And you'd be right...

But you probably don't think dubstep is this....

or this....

Which is where most people go wrong. Dubstep evolved from this. Dubstep is fucking awesome, it just evolved into shitty music because people try to overcompensate and do way too much with it.

Death to Skrillex.

Peace.
