Dubai and Ski Dubai

I'm done with this argument, I will never travel to Dubai anyway. Cairo get tourism due to the Ancient Egyptians, Niagara Falls because its a natural wonder. Dubai? Oil money. And greedy people looking to pay no taxes at all. I'm not racist against Arabs, I'm against hypocrisy. I never said anything about your schools, I was saying its a false statement to think that the UAE is so pro-western when two of the people that took down the South Tower were from there.

And no, not everywhere was meant to have skiing. And no, the locals at ski dubai will never be anything close to pros, or even my level for that matter. That park is terrible. Highly commercialized skiing is all it is. Skiing was never meant to be an activity you do at the mall.

No taxes is greedy? Then so am I lol

UAE isn't pro-western? Come here then and try to say that; until then, if you're going to be narrow-minded, enjoy yourself where you are and you never have to travel to the east. Because this place must be exactly like CNN and BBC makes it out to be.

I'm only writing back because of a point you made. The locals at ski Dubai will never be pro like you, because apparently you are. Considering you've never seen what a few can pull off here, you really need to shut your mouth before you say something else that's stupid. I've been there, it's not terrible, far from it. On Freestyle night, they have the indoor place booming with a DJ with the insane Australian, Canadian, Locals and all others competing for prizes. Don't talk about something you know nothing about. This place gets tourism because of their money, indeed. It's probably the most advanced, or close, city on the planet. I feel safer walking on the streets here then I ever did in the USA.

Also, it's a great activity for the mall and with all the people it gets, many foreigners seem to agree.

I just skied Snow Plant in Auckland, New Zealand. The rails are suuuper solid, best indoor rail setup I have seen. The jump sucks but there getting an air bag anyway. Its way fun, check my vid or Cal* 's vids.

Yeah i cycle everywhere here (even spinneys that like 1 hour ride from my house, and yes spinneys is american and hasnt been blown up, and never wil) and i feel safer cycling around here then i ever did when i used to live in cyprus. You live 1 min froms ski dubai? thats like my house and im assuming you go to DAA(Dubai American Academy, hasnt been blown up wither, and never will)

wow. im blown away by the ignorance of that. i dont need to even respond. ill just bring it to the attention of everyone else.

and saddam? you loved him huh? "what those iraqis deserved"? whoa. your a fucking idiot. he used CHEMICAL WEAPONS on his OWN PEOPLE. he killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people. maybe a million or more. get a grip homie.

and to SKIDUBAIGUY or whatever, try and get a hold of a bunch of pics or videos of cool parks so you can show your park crew... breckenridge, for example, doesnt have like SO many features, but they are just well set up and well maintained. street-style stuff is also cool because you dont need as much snow to build big lips, but you can still have big features, ya dig?

Saddam was good at keeping people in line. Now that they've been "liberated" they can't stop killing each other in far greater numbers than Saddam ever did.

I suppose Saudi Arabia is very pro-western too. You fools need to get a grip, these Arabs are laughing in our faces.

No they never will be my level, I never said I was pro. I don't care what the fuck you throw, no one can ever be that good hitting that little kicker and shitty rails. The jumps I hit would probably touch that place's roof.

Ski Dubai just got better, hers the parks new kicker-

Uh no, its called having lived at Squaw Valley. Its ridiculous to claim someone primarily skiing a 45 second run through a shitty park will ever be my level at any aspect of skiing. Except maybe moguls, I suck at that.

And please, go ahead and call me ignorant but give me your argument. I'm happy to debate you, if not shut the hell up.

you keep that jump up and if/when i come back this summer ill for sure go. otherwise...i dont think ill come. i want the freestyle night too haha

If you read my posts you'd see I know the nationalities of Dubai, the slave labor they use to build their city which they plan on sending back. Those people are all guest workers you fool. Maybe that would explain why despite their extravagant cities, 1 in 5 people are below the poverty line.

And I'd like you to cite you source, I'll give you minehttps://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ae.html

40% of GDP is oil for the UAE.

The place is built solely upon oil revenue and being a tax haven for big business and rich fuckers.

Snowplanet in the Netherlands, definately one of the best indoor parks. Chances are big that the park in Snowplanet is better than the one in Dubai. Simply because we have way more experience with building parks. Besides that, we are way closer to the Alps... And I don't know if I think it's that sick to have an indoor slope in Dubai. It just costs so much energy to keep it running with the temperatures over there....

Heres a new vid with Finnish pro snowboarder Heikki Sorsa when they visited Dubai, doesnt just show the dome but also the desert.

I know its snowboarding but its good, watch it.

If 90% of people in dubai ski, where exactly are they skiing? And also, what are the age demographics of these people that are skiing? If it's only prominent, middle-aged business men that are skiing on their trips to the alps and north america, you'll have a tough ass time getting more people in your park. If it's mostly youth and younger kids, someone needs to create environments where these people can get motivated by park skiing, and want to be there more often. If it is younger kids, there is a lot of things you could do to motivate them. You could definitely organize rail jams etc, but without frequent participation of the locals, those will be a bust and will have no long term growth effects on the sport.

I'd almost say loosely organizing a crew of devoted locals, for others to look up to, is the only thing that can help. Unless you have a crew that reps the park hard and often, no one who would be visiting will have the inclination to want to be there a lot. You need to find all of the skiers in your city, and get together to decide how you're going to do this, because despite the heroics associated with you single-handedly igniting the dubai ski scene, it will be a fuckload easier with the support of friends. So visit your local ski shops (or snowboard), maybe get a job at one so you're frequently interacting with any potential skiers, and recruit them for your cause. I don't know anything about Dubai, but it obviously has a lot of money in it, seems to be a youthful city, and is probably heavily influenced by the west - all very positive things in terms of having the right factors to get a ski scene going.

Oh, and this political debauchery that's taking place is so old, get over yourselves. There are better places to discuss the opinions you guys have, and a legitimate skiing thread (by some kid that just wants more people to ski with) is not one of them.
