Dual screen help

OK, so on my desktop, i had a dual screen setup. when i went to school, i just unplugged the main monitar and brought it w/ me so i could hook it up to my laptop.

now i'm home and want to use my desktop, but when I turn it on, i can only see the extension of the desktop, not the entire thing with all the icons and such. i know how to change the settings, but i do not know how to acess the settings because i can only see one portion of the screen (which is just the extension)

what should i do? safe mode doesn't really help to change settings. thnaks,
 
try plugging it into the first video card port, since thats where you unpluged the main monitor from.
 
i cant. there is only 1 port that the plug will fit into. i think its digital and the other 2 are analog. the convertor adaptor between the 2 doesn't work either
 
right click your desktop and go into the preferences?

or go into your bios and set the primary video card from there
 
so did you try to unplug that monitor all together and put the ohter one on? or am i misunderstanding that you already tried that? i tried google but no real solutions to your problem. sorry
 
how are you posting on NSG when you cant get on your computer? can't you just use the computer you are posting from, or you must have a reason to get onto it. my post is pointless, i see whats going on. sorry cant help ya, but good luck though
