i got the last g4 desktop they made. such a nice comp, dual 1.25ghz. plus it cam with dual operating systems 9.2/10.2 really nice to have

 
i need to buy a new laptop, i'm gonna get the g4 powerbook. how close are they to making the g5, would it be worth waiting?

I just got a new dell desktop... i cant wait. It will replace the computer im on now. Old one - 600 mhz pentium 3, 10 gigs, terrible graphics card, not too much memory or ram either.

New one - pentium 4 3 ghz, 80 gigs, 128 mg graphics card. I cant wait, ill actually be able to play games

Wow... icyeastcoast, just one more PC user who doesn't understand the concept of processor speed rating. This is why intel is able to sell PCs, they just inflate their numbers at the cost of performance, and people think their computers are better.

Well, Im not kidding or anything, but could why are apples better with lower numbers and such? Dont make fun of me for not knowing, i would just like to know.

Because although PCs rate higher in MHZ, their chip architecture is so awful that its performance suffers. Thus, the speed rating drops to about half of a Mac's, which has excellent system architecture. So, a Dual 2.5 Ghz G5 is like... off the charts as far as Pentium goes. Hell, a 1 Ghz G4, since the speed rating improved, runs quicker than a 2.0 P4 and deteriorates faster. give it a year, and that same 1 yr old 1Ghz g4 will be faster than a 1 year old 3ghz P4. There are a tons of factors that decide how fast your computer actually runs, and intel just likes to impress people with big numbers, just like Nvidia does with their graphics cards.
