DSLR Cage

Couldn't tell if this question is "unthreadworthy" but I thought it could probably help more than one.Totally beginner in the field of any sort of rigs, I was wondering if a cage rig for DSLR is also a stabilizer (I suppose yes but to what extent?).

And do handles really do the job ?

Thanks for answers, it'll help me what tool to buy for winter !

Yes. I would say handles do the job for certain things. I built a rig with pvc that allows me to have a cam caddie type handle and a halo rig handle and use my flippy screen and it is great. Its a lot like the one you are planning on buying. They are great for videos where there is minimal movemment of the cameraman (like standing by a rail and just panning to follow the skier) but it may come out a bit shakier with follow cams than if you bought a steadicam. Another perk of handles is that a 7 year old could operate that rig. Anyone can pick up a handle and point it. With a glidecam or steadicam you have to have a decent amount of practice with it to actually use it correctly. Id say that looks like it will do the job. I hope I helped.

You sure helped me, +k. SO perhaps I'll go for a glidecam, i've seen some on amazon for like 150euros, I think it's called nano or something.

that's a flycam, just a cheaper version of a glidecam. billions of threads and posts in m&a comparing the two
