Dryslope Edit Critique; For Compettion

Looking for a bit of feedback on this edit i've made for a UK competition,

Do you think there is too much slow mo? I think it fits the song but not sure if it makes the edit too slow and a bit stale?

Honestly edit would have been better if you didn't steal DTF's song. When I watch an edit with a song from another good edit, I automatically compare it to the original edit that used the song. And not to be a dick but your filming/editing is nowhere near on the level of Zac's.

Other than that the filming/editing wasn't terrible. Try to be more steady and do some color correction next time. Also the skiing as pretty sick and that looks like a fun dryslope. Is it in the UK?
 
Ye i knew that was going to be the first thing said..obviously my filming and editing is no where near his.

But for the purpose and audience this is intended for, 99% of them aren't going to have seen that edit and know that the song is from it,

What shots do you think should be colour corrected? I tried to correct the indoor stuff but because lighting is so poor in there it really makes the go pro quality shitty and it cant be fixed unfortunately.

Thanks for the comments though, I might do a re-edit to another song, try and be a bit more original!

i think i preferred the first edit, the song has been used before but i would have thought that the people who judge britains got skiers won't know that.
 
I loved the colors on the first two shots in the second edit. Why would you not make an attempt to replicate those throughout the entire edit?

Too many fades. Get rid of those and the dryslope segment will be so much stronger.
 
I thought it might be overkill if i used those colours on the whole section of it, will go back and give it a shot though, thanks.

being indecisive comes from not trusting your own instincts and thoughts so what do you think should also play a main role in what your doing not just others thoughts - and don't worry about the song just because you used a song that someone else used doesn't mean you "stole it" you should use the song that you can create the strongest edit to
 
I would not worry to much about the song, it works and you have edited to it now. What you do need to change is the order of the clips. The first part on the jump at bearsden just get boring, you have the same angles used over and over. Mix it up a bit, get some stuff from breahead mixed in with the jump. Why not also try doing ramp slo mos rather then just slowing all the shots. It does not give the edit much pace, and ramped slo mos look cooler. Id try to stablise some of your footage too, its pretty shakey in parts. Some colour correction couldt hurt either. There is no sense of overall look to your shots, as there some indoors and some outdoors. You also have differnt times of day edited next to each other. Try to tell a story with your edits and part of this is keeping a conisistent look for sections of teh edit. Have a look at bennets edit he just stuck up, its not the best edit but the look is pretty good. Also have a look at some of slaves edits as he will as ever proberbly be part of the desicion for teh winner. Post up your new edits if you do some.
 
Oh and proberbly the reason you have glitchs in the song is you have proberbly edited it with 48kHz sound rather the 32KHz. Try changing it to 32K and the glitches sound go.
 
Yeh the song glitch was cause i imported it into fce as an mp4, but then i changed to AAC or whatever it is and it fixed it. Thanks for comments and feedback, +k to you all.

It may not be perfect, but this is what I came up with in the end. I will take all of this advice into account for my future edits!
