Dry Base

So, when I got my skis, the base was really dry so I gave it a good wax ( I thought...), but rode it for one day and lot of the dry spots are back again w/ no wax. Is this mean the base wasn't clean right before waxing it, so the wax didn't stick well??? Or could there be something wrong w/ my base????

iron on some wax and scrape it straigt away before it dries that usually cleans the base pretty good then give them like 2 to 3 more coats of wax but let these soak in for atleats half hour before u scrap

also ur iron could be too hot so check the temp or if u are using a clothes iron get a proper one cause clothes irons will dry out ur base

I'm actually using an iron that only has light indicator no temperature control. Could this happen if I'm not moving the iron thru the ski fast enough and ironing them too long or something like that???

Also, after I iron the remaining wax, do I scrape the wax when its liquidy??? Thanks for your help.

do you dont scrap when its still hot. you have to let it stand for around 5-10 minutes the loger the better. then scrap it off. when your finished scraping i recomend taking a socthbright pad and buffing the base as well with that.

if you iron doesnt say anything about the temp. just try to get it to the point where the wax isnt burning - when the iron isnt smoking

scrape it when it is liquidy that way u clean ur base and put moisture in it at the same time. unlike base cleaner u get t the shop ity doesnt dry ur base the fuck out. then u wax it properly

if u iron s a ski specific iron u should have and dramas wid buring ur skis so long as it is under 135 degrees celcius

Clean bases not with base cleaner!! long story but trust me just use a clean damp cloth.

Use shit wax put a thin layer on and DO NOT let is dry scrap it off straight away, this helps remove crap from the base like greece from lifts and dirt.

Get good wax and slap it on thick let it compleetly dry scrap it off brush it out. Repeat this again but put on a thinner coat. End, Nick.
