buy cheap drums. don't spend thousands of dollars only to find that you can't play. listen to music and find drum tracks that you like, figure them out in your head-learn how to control your arms and feet independently of each other when you're just sitting around tapping them on things. i've never had lessons, i tried them when i was little but just got annoyed by them. but im sure if you want to learn fast, take them. drumming usually isn't something easy to pick up right away like guitar.

teach yourself man, go buy some books, i took lessons for about 4 years and there one of the most boring things youll ever do and ive been teaching myself for like 4 years after that, when you teach yourself you get just as good , its cheaper, and you are a ton more creative because your not just copying other peoples styles, after you learn to read music just either buy music books, or find songs u like with good drummers and get the tabs to them

I disagree fully. I took lessons for 8 years and it has helped me so much. I never would have gotten anywhere near where I am now by myself.

Get lessons. I've been playing for 6 years and I took them at the beginning. They helped with reading music and fundamental stuff. You could prob buy a used snare and sart with that and just get add-on. You could also buy a practice pad but they aren't very fun.

decent iam going to take some lesons for a bit to get the hang of things i might drop them then iam going to spend about 600 on a set i might by used ones .

You can get a new Pearl Export set for under $600, don't get a used one if you don't have to. Take lessons too, I've played for 12 years and they helped a ton.

fuck dont take lessons, just listen to bands like metallica and dream theater and learn yourself. spend that cash on a nice set or booze

A Jam a day keeps the doctor away.

i say lessons man, i have been playing for 11 years, and still do a lesson every now and again. find someone who rips from a local band, you can get lessons real cheap/free

GOOD TAB SITE IS www.mxtabs.net its very good for tabs i use it for my electric guitar but theres drums and bass tabs too

my opinion is too not take lessons or read tabs and develop your skills yourself, and when you get better you will have a more origianl style of playing and be better, thats what i did.
