I was wondering if anyone out there plays the drums. Im looking to get started and was wondering what i could get to start that would be relatively cheap but not a piece of shit. any info would be great
 
id say go with a pearl forum or export set, and one of the zildjian cymbal packs to start out. maybe a iron cobra double bass if you want to go in that direction
 
a cheap kit that is good = non-existant. anything under around 5 or 6 hundred, is gonna suck.
 
i have been playing drums since i was 10. get a cheap percussion plus or cb set. then ad a nice cet of heads like evans hydrauilics or something. u dont need to spend too much unless ur in a band. then buy good cymbals. like zildjian avedis or zildjian A customs and K customs. dont waste ur money on cheap Z customs or whatever. ull end up saving a lot of money and will have more cymbales in the long run, and buy a new snare. i recomemend a picallo cause they sound sick. but i used the first set i got for 5 years without upgrading while i only upgraded the cymbals and the snare and the heads. drums sound fine when u are playin in ur basement or whatever, just get new drums if u go into a band. crappy cymbals make a much bigger difference.
 
i used to drum for 7 yrs .. get used stuff off someone who is upgrading.. its cheap for someone starting out
 
Do not get a cb or a percussion plus. Those aren't real drums. The lowest qual drums worth buying would be pearl exports, tama swingstars, or something around that price range. I've been playing since I was 5 and I've played many many sets, including percussion plus sets, and I wouldn't even buy those for a toy.
