Drugs.... cool vs. not cool

I see a lot of people giving up on rationality. Not saying experimenting is stupid but whats the consensus on using drugs in peoples every day lives.

I take adderal to help me with my severe ADD/ADHD. Thats pretty much the only "Drug" I do. I don't have interest in weed and stuff like that. Seems like a waste of time just sitting around taking bowl/bong/joint/blunt hits.

Why should you care? I smoke marijuana, but I do not judge people for doing that or not doing it at all. " I just don't want to sit around and take bong hits all day." Thats pure ignorance. You are juding people who smoke marijuana as just the typical "stoner" who doesn't do anything. Like Bill Hicks said "“They lie about marijuana. Tell you pot-smoking makes you unmotivated. Lie! When you're high, you can do everything you normally do, just as well. You just realize that it's not worth the fucking effort.”

The only thing that is not cool is when people go on about drug taking. Especially pot obsessed twelve year olds who have the it is cool to smoke pot mentatlity, and have never actually touched it. If you wanna take drugs do it, just don't think that people think you're cool for doing it.

How am I in any way, shape or form judging people? From what I hear/see from people I do know that smoke weed, They usually are sitting down and taking bong hits.

I didn't say "Sit around and take bong hits all day". You're just putting words into my mouth. I simply said "Sitting around and taking bong hits seems like a waste of time." Its not that I have a problem with marijuanna users or marijuanna, (I couldn't really give a fuck what you do, actually) I just don't have interest in it.

I've taken my a decent amount of drugs and some fun with it.
But to be honest, 99% of the time your just chasing the dragon. And your probably not gonna catch it.
Weed doesn't make my life any better, it's just something I do when I'm bored. Same with the rest of the shit. Sure, you might have a story to tell your mates who are into drugs when you trip or whatever, but apart from that you don't get much out of drugs.
Sure drugs can help in some instances, but you're better off to sort your life out and tackle the real problems that are causing you to take drugs rather than taking them to escape from it all.
I still take drugs occasionally, but I'm limiting it big time. They haven't really made my life any better than it was and they certainly wont make it much better in the future. They're just something fun to do once in a while.

agree. ive enjoyed experimenting but dont totally get why people rave about it. not into judging either way. hate hearing people super stoked on it and hate hearing people bashing it. if you do it, it should be a personal thing that doesnt affect other people.

I feel the same way. I have a lot of friends who smoke weed all day every day, and although some of them don't even leave the house, a couple are in school and work as well. But.. they are still getting high all day, and I hardly think they are getting the most out of school or working as hard as they should be when they're just high all the time.
I don't have any interest in drugs at all.. aside from random full moon parties. i'll hang out with people while they're getting high and I don't have a problem with that, but I don't really have the desire to use drugs on a regular basis

This is why you use drugs to enhance experiences that would already be pleasurable. They should never be used as an escape.

Drugs = not cool.
Thats just a personal preference.
I think its more fun watching people be idiots while high or drunk than actually being high or drunk.
The only part that sucks about that is that you're expected to take care of them...
And I've done more than my share of stitching cuts, icing bruises, comforting hysterical girls, holding hair back while puking, etc.

True, that's the best reason to use them. But from my experience it starts out like that, then eventually it becomes less and less of an event until you're just getting baked everyday for no reason.

Same.

I'm over it now.. They're still fun, it's just something I don't need anymore.

I haven't had bad experiences on anything, just done stuff I wouldn't want to have done.

One night at a party, I got wasted and did some MDMA, kept getting more. I did a lot of it. Find out the next morning that the guy I was getting it from had 2 other little baggies of drugs. All the little bags were unlabeled. One was MDMA, the other was Special K and the final one (my favourite part), Cocaine...My body/mind was experiencing more than just a MDMA high... So, that is my lesson there. Don't get drugs while at parties.

The psychedelics are fun. I'm over them too. I've done a fair amount of LSD, I've seen my friends change though from doing too much. It's sad, the creativity can go up, but that's about it.

I did mushrooms last month, that was kind of the end of my drug use/experimenting. There is no real need to get high anymore.

It's not whether or not doing drugs is cool, it's how you manage yourself on them. If you can't, and you just always want to blaze or get high off something, it's not that cool. I used to do it a fair amount, I grew out of it, so did all my friends.

If you can handle it, and you're not one of those arrogant douchebags that advertises to the world that they do drugs. You're fine.

It's just my opinion...I've gone through the whole "let's consume and try everything" phase. Don't get me wrong, it's fun. But sooner or later you have to realize what's going on.

Man... had so much fun with drugs and alcool, but also had many night when it wasn't that nice, or the morning made me feel like it wasn't worth it, or did things I regret...

But thats all what drug are about, giving you up and downs, help you have good times and live experiences.

Its just ''not cool'' when it gets a too big part of your god damn life. Its cool ass life experience, just dont start fucking up your life for those experiences.

Its all about balance really, and some people tend to lose some of it when smoking to much. Harder drugs are regular basis is just fucking retarded. Trying stuff is normal, but going back n back to it makes you sick.Personnaly, i know if i smoke regularly i become less active and not as spontaneous, which sucks.
Ill just have the odd joint here and there, usually while gaming. And i truly believe thats its not worse than having a few beers

I enjoy smoking weed if Im going for a bike ride or longboarding, or skating mini ramp or whatever. I dont really like to (but sometimes do) smoke and just sit around because I feel like I'm wasting my day away. Only if its super shitty out and am pretty much confined to my house will I smoke and just chill. I dont really think its "cool", just something to make activities more fun haha.

I smoke weed and a lot of it. If you consider this a drug, I challenge your stereotype of a stoner. I work with weed. I lets me experience the world in a new way. I watch movies, look at art, *try* to read when I get stoned. Also I can do commissions if I dont have to talk to people. I even run and bike on it, it can be a dull ride, so I make it better.

so if that isnt cool, then Im not cool.

alcohol is fine as long as it's not in excess, and weed is fine as long as it doesn't start to interfere with your daily life. i know kids who smoke every day and it's not an issue, they handle themselves fine, and i know kids who smoke once a week and are obsessed with it and constantly trying to look for ways to do it

Doing drugs is never cool. I mean, you do feel like a rockstar when you walk out of a bathroom stall at a show, but that's about it. I am more envious of the kids that have the best time of their lives without taking anything.
I don't really do hard drugs during ski season, just weed, maybe some brew, and some good old fashioned adderall.
I have done my fair share of drugs though, and a few of my friends can say the same. I think bragging about drugs is really, really lame, and I only drop knowledge on dumb spun out kids because they pretty much ask for it.
If anyone has questions about a drug they are curious about, ask me, because if I haven't done it, I know (not necessarily friends) someone that has. Added to that, my friends and I read a lot about what we do, and we discuss our thoughts when we need to, so I have a pretty well-formed opinion.

Good one!
In my experience, everybody has to figure the whole drug/alcohol thing out for themselves. People have different limits and some people handle themselves better than others. It's all about keeping what is truly important to you in clear sight. Once you start losing interest and motivation to accomplish things and share real experiences with people, it's a slippery slope until all you care about is getting high and feeling good that way. On the other hand, if you can blaze face all day and still be a successful, hard working and goal oriented individual, all the power to you. There are only very few people who can pull that off all the time though

Dont Love it dont hate it

meaning dont be so obsessed where you only want to smoke

But dont be really against your friends smoke

and i do smoke weed

What do you mean by cool? Cool as in something you do, or cool as in "Sick breh you do drugzz sweet"

Because I think if you smoke pot, whatever it's fine as long as you can function. If I smoke and do nothing all day it's not that smoking caused me to do this, it's that not doing anything all day caused me to smoke. I think it's fun to do it whenever I have nothing to do.

Alcohol is fine 2-3 nights a week or whatever for a party.

Hard drugs are not my thing. Never will be. If people try them, whatever, if you get addicted, then you're weak minded and should get your priorities straightened out.

Never do something just to be seen by someone as cool. Unless you choose to wait to bench press all that weight 'til the ladies walk by in gym. That's all G.

ADD FTW! i take concerta for it and thats pretty much it. i havent smoked weed in months but i did use to do it regularly. i just quit smoking cigs too, just tryin to clean my life up a little

There's really nothing about drugs that makes you "cool." Working hard and being determined to succeed in something, say skiing, is what makes you cool. Because it's difficult to do, and it takes time and skill. Drugs are a shortcut to those same feelings. What exactly do we perceive to be cool about that? Granted I've seen my fair share of use, but I don't exactly respect anyone just because of their drug usage. Rather, I take a look at what they've done with their lives and judge them based on their thoughts and actions.

i just spent like 5 hours with my friend and his roomates last night, when i got there, they were outside smoking cigs, each probably had about 3 before they went inside and once they got in there, they all had a shot, they went into the other room to watch tv, once they got there they started smoking weed for maybe an hour, went downstairs to play video games, once they got there they were usin a vaporizer for like another hour, then they took a smoke break to go outside and smoke cigs. came back inside and did a combination of shots and weed for like another 30 minutes.
supposidly that is what their entire day looks like. and i gotta say there are THE biggest loosers i have ever met. i have the opposite of respect for them. and i can honestly say im never going back to my friends house cause it was extremely depressing not only to see that they had to rely on a constant altered state of mind to show even a hint of happiness, but that they had no fucking control over themselves and were generally very unhappy.
so in cases like that yeah drugs are the opposite of cool.
i know people that will smoke like once a month, and those people are fine. i still dont respect that choice, but whatever.
my opinion is that more drugs you do the bigger looser you are,.
but thats coming from someone who has never smoked anything, and has probably had less than a gallon of anything alcohol in his entire life.

Drugs are epic, but once the vacations are over and that that guy you did E (or speed) with is still on it at school after it had been his first time like 4 weeks ago, you wonder things. But, like I always say

Anything that is abused, is bad

Anything moderately used, can't be too bad.

(yes I just invented)

Please Define Drugs!

Lipitor? = not cool

Viagra? = Cool for old men and their wives

MDMA = Cool for partying

Crystal Meth = Really NOT cool, it eats your body and mind and scars the happiness receptors, so recovered addicts can never feel happy again. They have to live with that.

Weed = Cool, worlds oldest medicine, but is powerful and genetically complicated - Can induce psychosis and cause motivation issues

Mushrooms = Cool, like communing with the alien life force of the universe.

Cocaine = Meh, its just ok, only to stay wake at a good party, but never delivers the high, U always want more, and its $ and its cut with vitamin B , etc

Booze = Cool and Not cool - its engrained in 5000 years of genetics (european bloodlines) and 500 generations of alcholic genes in our bodies (hence the huge liver) - and our culture is built right on top of alchohol - The bars, the social aspect of it make it inescapable, and it can be fun.

But it does brain damage.

and Stupid Drunk Accidents damage.

SO

PLEASE DEFINE WHICH DRUG YOU ARE REFERRING TO, BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT!!

Yeah you are right, bragging about drugs is really lame.

Although I probably have more knowledge about them then all of you.

you arrogant fuckstain, why don't you go write a book about hypocrisy and the art of claiming bullshit

yeah, you sit down and take bong hits for like 10 minutes. Then you can get up and do anything you want to. You could smoke a J on the chairlift and then ski for the rest of the day like you're floating on a cloud.

If its a rainy day you're going to sit inside playing video games anyway, might as well be stoned! Point is, it only makes you lazy if you are already lazy to begin with

I am not trying to be an asshole, but honestly this is textbook stoner justification.

Everytime someone uses this justification, they are one of two things.

1. just started smoking weed often, doesn't understand the actual negative effects it has.

2. too baked to accept responsibility for being lazy.

you just did what he did. interjecting that you know about drugs. saying you know more than all of us? is that not bragging? claiming at least? you are a hypocrite too.
