Drug sweeps at ski resorts....

Haha....you are clearly a retard. Taos is one of the gnarliest mountains in the country. I've skied most of them and nothing comes close (even Jackson, Kirkwood, Snowbird, and others). West Basin is probably the highest inbound concentration of extreme terrain at any resort in North America. This thread has absolutely nothing to do with Taos as a resort...it is a discussion of whether or not the Forest Service overstepped its boundaries when they opted to hand out retarded tickets. Fuck Taos?? You're playing with fire my friend. I dare you to come down here. The mountain won't be the only thing kicking your ass.

for real. find a low key spot in the woods and have at it. i doubt they can have THAT many forest service people at one resort searching for stoners. i love toking and skiing, but there comes a time and place where its really not cool to do, especially in lift lines/heavily trafficked chairs, etc.

Official: Taos Ski Valley raid not result of ticket quota

TAOS, N.M. —Some

in Taos are livid after they say Forest Service Officers showed up to

the Ski Valley wearing SWAT gear and began searching cars and handing

out citations.

“I could not be more upset about this,” said former Gov. Gary

Johnson, who is also a resident of Taos. “I could not be more upset.

Somebody needs to lose their job.”

The act is called a Saturation

Patrol, and it was performed recently at Taos Ski Valley by four

National Forest Police officers and a drug-sniffing dog. The quartet

began citing people for possessing marijuana, driving recklessly and

having cracked windshields.

“This

is a total waste of taxpayer dollars,” said Johnson. “We're U.S.

taxpayers. We own the forest service. Why are we subject to this? Why? I

want to know.”

According to the U.S. Forest Service, officers

said they often see people driving dangerously in the Ski Valley area,

speeding, drinking and using drugs. The saturation patrol was designed

to catch those people breaking the law and putting others in danger.

The

man in charge of the forest service says he takes the concerns very

seriously, however, and is reviewing how his officers interacted with

the public. Some believed the body and car searched violated rights.

“There’s a little bit of overreach, mission creep,” said Taos radio host Marcus Sanders. “It’s real. It’s happening.”

Forestry

officials said they’re reviewing the incident and that they have no

other patrols planned at Taos Ski Valley or any other ski resort. They

said patrol had nothing to do with meeting “ticket quotas.”

Dude, 14th amendment freed the slaves. It had nothing to do with search and seizure of illicit substances. There are people who don't even live in America who know the Constitution better than you.

Did your daddy touch you in inappropriate places in a Taos bathroom? It is stupid that the forest service did this but you are so set on hating Taos for some reason.

You either

a.) are autistic

b.) were molested at Taos

c.) all of the above.

I think it's alright if people want to smoke weed, because, as people have said it's no worse than tobacco. That said, I think more serious drugs are an increasingly huge problem in the skiing community. Especially when we look at people like Tom Warnick who, unfortunately, overdosed on heroine at 22. We all like to talk about the seriousness of harder drugs, but no one wants to do very much to prevent them.

Can't do too much to prevent hard prescription drugs because it's a multi billion dollar industry. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ rules all

there are also people who never use the internet who know how to read 2 lines further down a thread and not make an idiotic post

Yeah I agree that anything would help. At the same time, I'm worried that if marijuana were legal across the country (which I don't think is a bad thing by itself), people would just use it as a gateway to harder drugs, which defeats the purpose.

Although the term "gateway drug" is used often, its hard to see it any other way using logic. You start with tobacco, move up to weed, move up to crack, move up to heroine, move up to acid. I think that's what makes this such a complicated situation.

Quit now. If you're not trolling you really can't really be older than 15. That's nor your fault though. So, this is what I want you to do. Set an alarm for when you turn 21 to come back to this thread so you can read how ignorant you come off.

What if everything you were ever taught was not real?

Being shit housed stoned is 100% more dangerous than drinking a beer. Just about anything is fine in moderation.

i love the gateway argument. it shows me just how little about the argument my opponent knows. and it give me tha chance to say something like "so weed is the gateway huh? how about booze? most kids drink before they smoke? or what about caffine! has an affect on the body, fosters dependance, is for sure a drug by definition... or how about sugar? also has an affect on the body and a risk of dependance/addiction. lets go carlin now and say mothers milk. you want it, youre satisfied after you get it. could be called a drug. oxygen can get you high... is breathing the gateway?" if you want to use the gateway card, you better start at the gateway, not just where you think it is.

The Fourth Amendment needs to be amended to specifically state that searches based on a drug dog alerts are unconstitutional. It's too easy for officers to trigger the dogs to false alert, and they really aren't saving any lives.

outside of gateways or what ever else you have against whatever drugs, seems like a stretch to be harassing people trying to ski..... find a meth lab or some shit

Difference is one of these is legal and even encouraged.

The other is legal in two states and decriminalized or medically used in 20 states. So some states consider it beneficial for medicine while these forest Rangers waste tax money searching cars for it.

So much hate on pot smokers. Some people are just too ignorant to the fact that pot is not a narcotic drug, but more of a herbal remedy. Living here in Taos and subjected to the US Forrest Service "raid", I was not very affected. If anyone asked me for weed, I simply denied it, because I didnt want to get caught. The presence of the federal officers on Taos Ski Valley property, was a bit unnerving and fucked up the whole chill vibe of our mountain Thankfully they have all left now and the mountain is back to its state of freedom and tranquility.
