So today our school had a K-9 drug search, now im not stupid enough to bring weed to school but my locker got hit and i was searched. of course they found nothing on me and i proceeded to make the administration feel like shit when it was all over. God i hate schools, and their administrations. They were total dicks about it too, right when i saw them i got the "say bye to your friends cause you wont be seeing them for a while" i just laughed in his face. well story over, feel free to make this thread about kittens.

Damn, I didn't know schools did that, If that happened to my school the dogs would get sooo many hits haha.

Cool story bro.

We have those dogs all the time.

And I get pulled out of class every time.

And I proceed to make my dean of students feel like the fat mexican dumbass he is.

that's awesome. some people are fucking retarded and nothing's better than being in the position you were in and getting to laugh at his bullshit

yeah happened to my school last week. the found two people with perks in their lockers, but they never search us so most kids keep their weed in like their shoes

the dogs aren't allowed in my school. or any schools i know of around me. i live in ottawa tho.. i heard that they are illegal cuz one of them attacked a student? not sure if i believe it but yeeah

Just because the dog thinks it sniffs something doesn't mean it's always right.
And just because they have badge they think they're above you.

Yeah they use to do it at my school and I live in Ottawa too and then about 1-2 years ago they stopped using the dogs and searches period. Not to sure why either.

Why do your admins feel the need to be smug little shits about putting kids in jail? Honestly, if I were you in that situation and I knew I had nothing in there, I would've torn him a new one for talking to me like that. Not only is it disrespectful to search a school in and of itself, but he also assumed you were a criminal before the evidence was presented. Fuck him.

What's his email and ip address. I'mma fuck him up.

Used to have them at my school as well. I would keep my stash in the car all the time once i was able to drive to school. Before that would hide it in a gym locker that wasn't mine. Had a little cardboard pocket taped to the top where you couldn't see it. And the gym locker room smelled like ass anyway.

It's one thing to say, "Hey you trustafarian with the dreads who smells like weed and patchouli playing hacky sack, get over here we're searching you."
But to search without probable cause is just disrespectful. Even police don't do that.

the expectation of privacy does not exist in a school. you don't have "rights" to the extent that you do in the real world. the safety and welfare of the students as a whole far exceeds any privacy a student can expect to have on a personal level.
is it kind of shitty? yeah, but that's the way it is.
don't take your shit to school. it's as simple as that. if you do, and you get caught, then it's your own damn fault for being a dumb ass to begin with.
+2 points to the OP for not being an idiot and subsequently being able to laugh in the face of the administration.

they own the building though. the police don't need a warrant because the school invites them in.

it's simple, if you don't want to risk getting caught, don't bring it to school.

Your rights are limited once you step inside a school. And awesome for anybody that gets to laugh in the face of administration.

they don't own the bag, but you brought it onto their property, so they can search it.

i agree with the 2nd part though, don't let faculty push you around.

Yeah but the school no doubt has a disclaimer somewhere that allows them to legally search you at any time. Sort of like how when you buy a parking pass at school you agree to give them the legal right to search your car at any time.

unless it's your cellphone, or email, or you're an enemy combatant.

which clearly, all high schoolers are.

my info comes straight from a well trusted police officer, but it might vary state to state/country.

but if you are at law school, i'll believe you. I was always a bit curious about the legality of the searches, but being that i'm not retarded, i never had anything to hide so it didnt bother me

Well, when you buy a parking pass and it has something on it that says "by displaying this on your vehicle you surrender it to search and seizure", that is legally binding.
And you are totally right, a faculty member can not search you. They can however bring you to a school cop and have the cop search you, for absolutely no reason, because these days in court almost everything qualifies as "probable cause".

School owns lockers=School can search the lockers/allow police to search the lockers. School staff can search you and your possessions if they have reason, as decided in New Jersey v. TLO.
Schools can limit your Constitutional rights, as maintaining order in public schools in order to keep teaching is more important than a student's Constitutional rights.

no, but they do own the lockers. you're in law school, so you obviously know that courts have already addressed this issue and found that schools don't need probable cause to search your locker.
everything else you've said in this thread is spot on. the advice that you dropped in your last post is some of the best damn advice I've seen on this site in a long time.

no, he did not say that, you're putting words in my mouth. I've been out of high school for a few years, and i asked him towards the start, so i can't recall exactly what he told me.

and fyi, no need to run. He's one of the most respected and accomplished officers in massachusetts.

nah i never actually directly stated anything he told me, like i said, it was years ago, i don't remember all of it, and i didn't want to misquote him. I do recall him saying that it is sketchy, but there's a lot of ways to get through it. For every lawyer who knows some loophole, there's another one representing the other side who knows another loophole.

and no, i don't believe it. Hes not a power tripper, he's always taught me how to deal with the police and know my rights.

they used to bring the dogs in at my school.

but now i dont think they do, yet everytime there is a fire drill everyone thinks they have the dogs.

but the principal and his assistants search kids cars and backpacks if they feel like they have been doin something bad.shit is retarded

lol my high school did that all the time, but they were so fucking stupid about it, they always made us take home a notice telling our parents there would be a search and they would say the date too. they werent in envelopes or anything so we read them too, and we knew exactly when it was going down, so no one would bring weed that day

at first when u said k-9 i thought of kindergarten through 9th grade, not the dogs. but thats sick that they had to let u go, its so much fun just like having a little grin when they say back to class or u can leave
