there's a very simple formula for buying boots:
1) try boot on
2) boot feels a) good (proceed to step 3) b) no good (see step 1)
3) buy boot
it's really not that difficult. remember, boots serve one purpose, hold your foot and support your ankle. as long as those two criteria are taken care of, you're fine. there's no boot that's good for any condition in particular regardless of what marketing teams tell you
