Pretty much everyone already hates these guys already but I just gotta say what a bunch of kooks, hating on the bunch, summer skiing, everything. They don't even try to be entertaining, or get that informed about what they're talking about (summer skiing).

I'm going to go on record and say I love what TheDrop is doing.

Having the guts to put yourself out there, full go for it and actually stir up some shit takes a lot of massive sack.

Hell I've been thinking about doing exactly this show for years.... but through time, resources and full on pussying out from saying the shit I want to say I've never done it.

Also, I'm sick of people saying "hating". The drop likes the bunch. A lot. Newschoolers is a little too closed minded to entertain criticism sometimes to start a conversation.

They really don't do enough research either, they talk without thinking. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with a show that challenges the mainstream thoughts of newschoolers but I can't stand ill-informed-pretentious-collegiate asswipes thinking they can make themselves a reputation online by speaking their feeble minds. More than anything else, I'm psyched someone took a shot at it.

What we're trying to do here is empower people to take what they want to see in skiing - the stories, photos, videos, discussion or reviews that they want to see... and run with it. If it works, we'll support the shit out of you.

I mean we could delete the whole community aspect of this site and dump all the money we put into that - including the revshare programs - and just invest in content. Fuck the forums, fuck the people, fuck the uploads... fuck all of it. I'll tell you what is cool and you'll like it.

If that is actually the direction you all want to go in we can do it... but we'll end up like the rest of ski media.

I mean it'll be sweet. I'll be really cool.

To translate this is TheDrop created something great, but as soon as they started it they turned it to shit. If someone can create something like this, and it's run by great people, it would be exactly what we need.

I'm not targeting the people themselves, I'm targeting how they ran it. The cool thing is people can reiterate things to make them better. This was the first one and of course it's not going to be fantastic, however, it will lead to the one that will be.

Did you even watch the first 4 episodes? They were pretty informative well thought out shows yet no one even seemed to care.

Maybe you should do some research yourself.
 
Everyone has different opinions on everything. They are just sharing their opinions on stuff about skiing. I don't agree with everything that they say, but I think that they are a positive thing. The stuff the drop says supposed to start a conversation, not to get a bunch of people buthurt because they do not agree with them.
 
I'm not really that irritated with them sharing their opinions. I'm irritated that they're calling some members out and tearing them a new one for no goddamn reason. Go ahead and share your opinions but seriously stop bullying younger members on Newschoolers. It's pathetic, it's shit for cowards, and it's none of your business. That's the reason why I made that parody video, they overstepped their boundaries of what I see as fair game for insults, I wanted to fire that humiliation right back at them.

I actually laughed at this, even though I've seen that GIF previously before. I think it's a cool concept, but profoundly hating on the B-Fish crew for no apparent reason, and lack of actually quality videos is really weak. It's one thing to hate over the forums, another to say it through your "news" video. And why do they have an orange name now? I don't see how there content has given them industry access?

Their** my b instead of there. I agree with both Mingh and john, it's the needless bullying that's the worse part of what they are. Especially since, as said they are younger members who are ultimately enthusiastic to be here.

Sparking a conversation is one thing.

Telling a 13 year old kid to eat a dick and die is not a fucking conversation starter.

Sorry for being butthurt, I just don't think that shit is cool at all.

With that said, if someone gets a series going that gets a quality conversation started, I would be so stoked on it. This shit doesn't get me stoked at all nor does it make me willing to participate in any kind of conversation about skiing though.
 
The Drop just speaks their opinion, whats wrong with that? They could say they dont like candide but they have a right to say that. Unlike most of you haters, theyre putting their voice out and starting a conversation, what are you doing? Making a thread, posting hate comments? Nice work guys.

Other than that, their opinions are whatever. I don't think people are necessarily hating on it either. More of standing up for each other and criticizing them. The Drop dudes are allowed an opinion. What makes the people in this thread any different?

I don't know. My opinion probably doesn't matter but I think they crossed a line trying to make a joke out of members which isn't cool and desperate. I think their logic is flawed and I think they are intentionally trying to cause a shit storm. Just my opinion though. There's a way to bring up topics and discuss them without disrespecting people.

They clearly dont want anyone to die or eat a dick, its just a normal insult that anyone says about anyone they dont like. Is that seriously the issue you're pointing out?

Heres the deal,

Lets be honest, one of the ongoing jokes is to hate on certain members of the ns community who have been annoying or maybe said one too many stupid things. This small mention to B-fish and Shingbang at the end of our episode was not the worst thing that has been said about either of them, and it will not be the last. If you actually have problems with members holding comic beefs over other members, then you need to lighten the fuck up.

That being said, alienating new members from the threads/the site itself is the farthest thing from what we here at the drop are trying to do. Our largest goal is to make a show that is intelligent and entertaining for everyone, including the people who spend way too much time on this site and the people who are just starting out.

We would like to apologize to anyone who has been personally offended by anything we've said on our show, but lets be clear: we are sorry that you got offended, not for saying what we say. That will never change.

As is said in the description for Episode 5.1: These episodes were made because of our busy lives and lack of time. Although they do reflect our personal opinions, they do not reflect how we actually want to present our show. If you did not like these episodes please take the time to watch our previous episodes, because they are a much more accurate portrayal of what we are trying to do.

Keep it steezy newschoolers, and see you on wednesday. (or every other wednesday until we have reached our goals and run out of things to say)

Maybe start by not hating the entire time. Try talking about positive stuff (i.e. "------ just dropped a sick edit, make sure to check that out"). Its not that hard. You need to find a balance between constantly hating and saying something that is controversial. Nothing about recent episodes is inclusive. Skiing is about having fun, not trying to piss people off (which it seems like you're doing a good job of).

I have to look at this web series from two distinct, isolated perspectives:

1. The academic, pragmatic perspective:

You're embodying the essence of what Newschoolers is at its core: a platform for skiers to converse and present their opinions and ideas about skiing (however unpopular) and get people talking. It's obvious why Doug is hyped on this series. Stirring the pot is good, and this series has stirred many a pot because they've chosen a different medium than the forums to express their unpopular opinions and gotten more eyeballs than they would have if their opinions were buried in the forums.

2. The "why should I care what you have to say" perspective:

The fact that this web series is gaining traction for mostly negative reasons, it's rustled a lot of feathers. With so much more attention, should these guys do more research than just talking shit? Probably, but they don't necessarily have to. I'm not going to take them seriously if they don't - as right now they're mostly hating on things that I think they don't understand, people they don't know, and tricks they can't do and styles they can't emulate. So I'm kind of just writing them off until they get better at what they do/develop more intelligent, informed opinions.

Wow, that's the longest post I've written in the forums in at least 8 years.

It was actually the third episode, so clearly taking it a bit more controversial is a working strategy. They have been getting better with every episode as well.

I also would like to say I thought the eat a dick and die comment was funny. It was television, and that is what is going to translate. My original idea to do something like this show was to simply stand at a bar drinking scotch infront of a green screen and call out videos half the time and make fun of people's forum posts the other half.

Hateline isn't funny because the guy is nice to people.

Yah I know what they are trying to do, I just don't agree with it. Some people could think it was funny which is what they were going for, but it didn't translate well to the NS public. Personally I think it should discuss other actuall topics instead of calling out stuff.
