Does anyone know how the roads and traffic will be on the way to tahoe on friday with the heavy snow coming in? Not trying to get stuck on the way in

I would check for proper updates. Also chain control will def be going on. 80 has been closed for a few hours I believe. I think 50 is open. chain control is in action pretty much everywhere. Pretty decent winds so it's drfiting hard. Not a ton of snow yet, but even when there was a few inches it was drifting pretty good.

Tbh even if the weather is better than expected it’s going to fucked for both 50 and 80. It’s just going to be inherently bad because it is a weekend and every stubborn driver who thinks they’ve got a handle on things is going to be heading up as well as the weekend crowds who won’t take the weather seriously. If you’re going to make the trip leave early and be really careful.

Take provisions: food, water, sleeping bag, etc and make sure your tank is topped up sac or auburn or pollock pines or something.

My car broke in the middle of fucking nowhere in co 3 years ago, I just layered up, climbed in my bag, and rocked a bunch of handwarmers for the night

thanks, do you guys think its worth making the trip up friday afternoon or should I stay the night in sac or auburn and then leave early saturday morning?

Just traffic as far as I could tell. I know they had some dicey avy conditions this morning in he resort headwall but idk how that would correlate to the bad traffic. There were just so many people trying to get to squaw this morning it was insane.

shit was gridlocked. Luckily I was leaving northstar at 9 am not on my way there. Shit was backed up to kings beach almost on 267 and probably halfway to 80 on the other side.
