Drinking age in China

Yo guys, I'm going to China this June and was wondering if there really is a drinking age?

I researched it a little and from what I understand, it is legal for anybody to drink, but you need to be 18 to purchase. Does this mean that you need to be 18 to purchase in a liquor store or 18 to buy it? I am 16. So can I buy it in China or do I need to have a parent or somebody buy it for me and then I am fine to drink it?

If anybody has been, then share the word to me, and if you haven't but know about it, tell me too

Thanks

I dont think they care in china, they just want your money. i bet you'll be able to purchase and drink any alcoholic beverage that you like.

im sorry if this sounds harsh...

you are going to China and you are concerned with if you can have a beer or not?

come on, dude, there will be so much cool stuff to see, why do you want to be thinking about if you can get a beer, or not.

im just wondering about it

we have so much stuff to see, we are there for 3-4 weeks, so im not only concerned about if i could drink or not

There going to basically give it to you, people in China love people from America according to people from my school who went, they were signing autographs for people

haha ok, maybe i came off as a little bitter, but you see so many of the threads, saying "i get to go on vacation, and get wasted, because they have a lower drinking age" and those Piss me off.

and thats the way i read your thread the first time, sorry about that.

have great time!

haha yeah dude no worries, im not planning on getting wasted every night or anything, and i will only drink if there are chill ppl i meet there

but yeah it should be a good time, i am on a cruise for 4 days or something so we will see if drinking makes it a little more fun, since the activities are like shuffelboard and chinese fashion shows

my buddys going to bejing and he said theres no drikking age,

and apparently a stretch of bars like 3-4km long.. could be lies though

can never really tell

I've never been to China but if the drinking situation in Japan is indicative of greater Asia, you'll be fine.

I lived in Tokyo for a month when I was 16 and never had a problem buying liquor even though the official age was 20. I never got turned away from a club even though I had to flash my passport that stated that I was clearly underage every time.

Tsintao is some good shit, i dont think they really care but(18 official) if yo see some guys with shotguns jump out of a van, run, happened to me when I was in China, shits intense. VIsit the wall, forbidden city, tian an men, temple of heavan. OH AND ONE OTHER THING< DONT DRINK THE TAP WATER NO MATTER WHAT< SOMEHOW I GOT DIAHREA AND I WAS BARFING UP A TON, becuase some how i got sick, not fun.

everyone in this thread is talking out of their ass.

theres no drinking age but be careful of food poisoning. its not real bad but like youll def get it just cuz its so far away. everytime i go i get such bad diareah. things there are not done to any code its just chaos. but yea you can get beer anywhere.

ps everyone in china will admire you but secretly hate you (not cuz youre american, but because chinese people are pompous ignorant dumb fucks) but also secretly love you. just be weary of pick pocketers and scammers. tons of them.

oh yea, be careful what you say.

where in china are you visiting? just a bit of advise, pack imodium, you'lll thank me later

i expect one of these when you return

haha oh and if youre flying within china, don't be scared. if you think we're (asians) bad at driving... wait till you see a plane piloted by one. but dont worry you wont crash. (i am not liable for any plane crashes)

You will not have a problem getting served in China, there was a Swedish family staying at one of the hostels I stayed at and their kids (15-18) were out getting drunk all the time. Beer from shops is dirt cheap, it can get a bit pricey in bigger clubs in the cities, but if you chat (or try to chat) to some wealthy looking people they will generally buy you a drink (or lots of drinks) just for being white, seriously.

Try to spend some time down in the southern provinces (Guanxi and Yunnan, maybe Hainan) because they are great, less touristy (for the most part) than Xian or Beijing with some amazing stuff to see.

There is formaldehyde in some chinese beers and chemical components of antifreeze in their toothpaste.

granted not every brand/ food is bad but i would do a little research.

Just read that again and I messed up, Guanxi and Yunnan are generally less touristy, but Hainan is actually the most touristy place on earth, it's fun, but absolutely crazy.

haha people who try hard not to be "touristy" are retarded. first of all white people aren't going to ever experience real chinese people even if they learn chinese, sleep in hostels, or visit poor cities.

If youre going to spend a couple g's on plane tickets, trust me youre gonna wanna visit the big cities they have the most to offer.

Try to look for huge bazzares or flea market like stuff. The good ones are wicked hard to find cuz they keep moving and avoid detection from a few law enforcement agents. But if you can findem they have soooo much sick stuff. Bootleg watches (really, really good copies), random shit like swords and ninja weapons, tons of army shit like vests, airsoft guns, powerless flashlights, shoes, etc. Best part is you can bargain for everything.

take advantage man... white american is treated like god there. You can basically go up to the hottest chinese bitch you see, ask her to blow you and she will. And im not even kidding

Retarded, really? For suggesting he visit some parts of China that aren't quite so crowded (they're still very crowded, just slightly less so) as the rest of it? I'm not saying I saw everywhere, but those were the places I liked most, and most people I met there agreed, what's wrong with passing that on?

As for gettting to 'experience real chinese people' surely just being there you would experience the people? You wouldn't have the same experiences as them, and they will interact differently to you than they would other Chinese people, but you would see what they are like. Are you suggesting that the Chinese people I saw were fake, just for tourists, and all the real ones are locked up somewhere?

Oh wait, of course I'm retarded the big cities have the most to offer, like ninja stars and fake watches, woohoo! Jackass.

haha, dude i went to china when i was like 14, and some dude bought me drank at a restaurant. you should be fine. Everyone will look at you weird. I have blond hair, so i had all these people asking me to take pics with them and just staring at me. and the chicks will be all over you!

dude trust me youll fucking love it. i went in April with my school because i take chinese and its fucking sick. you can EASILY get liquor from any stores and if one doesnt sell to you i guarentee others will. There is no drinking age at all. At the resturants i always got offered beer to drink but the teachers wouldnt let us haha. A couple things too as you probably heard the air aboslutly sucks its aweful. if u have any questions just message me its amazing dude.

dude no way Im going to china too. It will be in july and august though for 4 weeks. were going everywhere Im wicked excited. and there is no drinking age.

if you find a decent seller of watches, bring back 5 or 10 good copies and I've been able to pawn watches I bought in china for between 20 and 50 bucks for anywhere between 100 and 1250 dollars
