Drink Driving

Sorry dude I explode cause it's touchy, I will never support any drunk driving no matter how little they've put down, good for you on your other accomplishments but this isn't about that, merely about your view on drinking and driving. I'll try to argue like an adult but the dude was buzzed and admitted to fault, and that did it for me. Besides, most kids I know think they can handle more than they actually can, and have no idea how little they actually ARE capable of. And then again, this may not describe you, so I apologize.

Truth. Although I don't drive drunk anymore, not in 3 or 4 years. But just cause I don't want a DUI. Truth be told I drive fine after 6 beers, better than asians and teenagers.

I think its funny that the majority of the people in this thread getting all butthurt probably drive stoned like everyday.

Anyone who drinks and drives isn't mature enough to drink OR drive, and should probably eliminate themselves from the gene pool.

Since you and many others in this tread are so anti drinking and driving I'd like to pose a few questions.

Do you get high and drive? I'm willing to bet MOST of the people on this site who smoke and can drive have done that.

Do you text and drive? Or talk on the phone and drive? Those are things that have been deemed as unsafe as drinking and drive and again, I'm sure most have done that.

Anyone that does those things and then goes apeshit on people for drinking and driving is a hypocrite in my eyes. (I'm not saying you specifically Big Spence, just quoted you for convince)

This post is so wrong it makes my gallbladder hurt.

Shady and Illy are both 100% on point in this thread, everyone else is a self righteous fuck. If you are under 21, or don't drink, you have absolutely no say in this matter, because honestly, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, despite thinking you do.

I don't condone DRUNK driving at all. However, there really is no true limit on what DRUNK is. Sure the law says .08%, but I've seen 100lb girls slammed off 2 beers and 300lb men down a 12-pack and be A-okay.

It all comes down to common sense.

Talking on the phone while you drive simply isn't dangerous as long as you are paying attention to the road and not your stupid phone call. By that logic eating a hamburger while you drive is as dangerous as drunk driving.

You dont actually drink and drive idiot

Being drunk impairs judgment, motor skills, and many other things. Being so drunk that you have double vision... then you try to drive...

Yes, while some people can drink a few beers, and still be "fine" to drive, why take the risk?

If something goes wrong- your more drunk than you think you are, you make a driving mistake and crash, you swerve a bit, you endanger others- the consequences are much much worse. Just stay the night wherever you are, and drive home in the morning. Or have a designated driver.

Then again, everyone is entitled to there own opinion.

Holy fuck.

you do realize that a ton of people out there are straight up terrible drivers with no respect for the road. People don't pay attention to the road when they're on the phone. People get so wrapped up in the phone, changing a song, the food they spilled, whatever, that comes first, and the road comes second.

I have no problem with driving and talking on my cellphone. I think the law is fucking stupid. I think instead of enforcing the cellphone law, they should start hitting dangerous and generally shitty drivers. If you have enough tickets for driving shitty you should have to take a retest. Or take a retest every so many years. I will gladly take my driving test again every 3 years if it means less dumb asses on the roads.

You would be amazed at the way people drive. I went to the movies with this girl you drove over a mile on the shoulder, I was trying to explain to this chick that there was a fucking lane to her left. I was riding with two kids. Doing like 60 in a 50, kid drops a cd, bends over with his head well below the dash looking for it. Me and my friend yelling got him to look up and hit the brakes just in time to avoid the cars in front of us at a stoplight. We skidded to a halt and came damn close, kid would have plowed through multiple stopped cars. The people that do the jersey sweep and got across multiple lanes through traffic with no signal, not even looking.

Don't even tell me that's less dangerous than somebody driving the speed limit, stopping at stop signs, dead center in their lane, but omg they had a couple beers.

Wasn't implying any of that. Simply that if you aren't retarded and know how to drive, talking on a cell phone is a much smaller hindrance to your driving ability than being drunk.

what person are we putting on the cellphone though? How drunk is the person, and what kind of driver are they.

And a lot of people are retarded and don't know how to drive, that's the point I was trying to make.

Theres valid points on both sides of this argument. Yes the legal limit may be low for some people but on the other hand there are people that shouldn't be driving once they hit it. And yes there is shitty drivers on the road but why is drinking and driving being justified because of that. Im sure most of them end up getting in fairly serious accidents over time so why would you want your driving skill lowered to there level?

Your beer of choice

Let's get a few things straight here. I consider "drinking and driving" driving drunk. You will probably argue that having one or two beers at dinner and driving home is also "drinking and driving" but that's not really what I meant. I guess I should have clarified. I'm 23, I drink quite a bit, and could probably be fine driving home with 6-8 beers in me, but I know that if I'm going to have more than two I leave the keys at home and get a ride. It's as simple as that. People who choose to go out knowing they're going to get drunk and drive to the bar are fucking retarded and should not be allowed to drink.

do i get high and drive? nope.

do i use my phone and drive? i used to, but recently got a ticket so i've stopped entirely.

and comparing either of those two to driving under the influence of alcohol is a stupid, ignorant son of a bitch. (i'm not saying you specifically .travis., just quoted you for the convenience)

haha I should have figured you'd be a cunt about it. It was actually for convenience since you were someone who was vocal and the last one i read before I replied.

If you really do neither of those things then good for you, although I doubt if you were on a 4 hour drive you wouldn't pick up your phone to read a text. But all i have is your word to go on.

and there is nothing ignorant about comparing getting high and driving to drinking and driving. Speaking entirely from personal experience when I used to smoke I couldn't drive for shit. I'd feel much safer being on the road after a couple beers than after getting high. I can only assume there are others that are the same way. The same goes for texting.

Altering your mind and getting behind the wheel is the same to me no matter how you look at it. If you really think driving after a few beers on a back road is worse than someone driving though the city or interstate high or texing, then you're ignorant one.

It would be cool if you crashed into your house and made it catch on fire and you burnt to death

I've definitely had like 2 beer and driving about a km up to my friend's house a couple times, but as for the last time i drove drunk i stared death in the face and thought i'd just casually drift around a corner on my property that is on the edge of about a 50 degree bank for 50 feet, then a huge cliff probably another 50 feet, then a lake. I fucked up doing something i had so many times before( cause i was drunk) and went off sideways, thought to myself whelp you just killed yourself and your best friend, but it was chill i stopped before the cliff, tow truck driver couldn't stop laughing as he towed my car out by the wheels.
soo anyways the moral of the story is i've always thought drunk driving was foolish and stupid but for a lot of people, myself included, it's kinda sad something very dangerous has to be what really keeps people from doing it, whether it be a close call personally or a loved one that has been hit or whatever.

you guys are all fucking retarded, holy shit!

DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE, EVER. PERIOD. I DON'T FUCKING CARE HOW MANY BEERS YOU CAN DRINK AND STILL BE FINE. JUST DON'T DO IT TO BEGIN WITH. YOU CAN SAVE YOURSELF FROM GETTING BUSTED, OR WORSE, HURTING YOURSELF OR POSSIBLY OTHERS.

it's just not worth it.

don't drift if you're an idiot noob that just got his license. Also you aren't even supposed to drink till you're 21.

Don't be an idiot=situation prevented

1st readon. Stupid reason is stupid.

2nd. Most people don't go out of their way to drive drunk, if you do you're retarded. If you want to give me a ride to or from anywhere I'll take it. I've always gone well out of my way to not have to drive drunk, especially in places with mad cops. I've walked crazy distances to get from a to b with out driving. But if it's not in a bad place and I'm fine to drive,no other choices, why not.

3rd. Because it's in the middle of nowhere. And again I drive like a champ. Probably safer than most people on the road. So If I'm somewhere where there aren't cars on the road, and I'm driving really fucking perfect, who's really at risk?

There are the drunk drivers who are the face of drunk driving, and the person that had a couple beers and drives fine. the people that are hammered, oh im good to drive, falling all over, fight you for the keys, drive 100, those people suck and kill people.

In this thread people were on the band wagon that if you have a couple beers you can't drive safely and should be burned on a cross. Depends a lot on the person and the situation. Obviously a good idea to avoid in anyway if possible, but it's still not a one size fits all situation.

oh god. kristie was still drunk when she drove me back to toronto from wasaga earlier this year ahha

I love the fear mongering that ads and other sources have created. "If you drink 1 drop, or even get a whiff of alcohol, you can't drive without killing at least 20 people in 8 different horrible car accidents."

If you go to a party, have 2 beers, and someone asks you if you're drunk, do you fall over, and slur out the word yes?

No. Because you're not drunk.

Same applies for driving. It's possible to drink prior to driving, and not be drunk.

I'm not condoning drunk driving. Like everything else in life, you have to know your limits, and when it's safe versus dangerous. If you go out to dinner and have 2, or maybe even 3 beers over the course of a long meal, you're probably safe to drive. (depends on the individual of course.) If you go to a bar and pound beer and do shots for 5 hours, you probably aren't.

ppl like you just dont get it. i was almost killed by a drunk driver, the doctors said if i lived i would be a vegetable, i have to live with consequences of this everyday of my life. right now i have a feeding tube , a neckbrace, and verylittle coordination on my right side on top of that my right eye isnt opening. whatever right?? its just some guy on ns he doesnt know shit, i never thought this could happen to me be fore it did so think again.

Sup bro! I think these kids are from the nation that:

1. Are current Rugby Union World Champions

2. Are current Rugby League World Champions.

Yeah, that nation...

you forgot

3. the country that's completely irrelevant in the world cup that the entire world actually pays any attention to.

I kid, I kid...a ton of people watched the RWC, and they deserved to win it. So please, don't take this as random hating. I'm exhausted ns'ing and keeping myself awake.

no its not, its fucking stupid to attempt to justify drunk driving, the point isn't to be slightly safer than the guy next to you, its to be as safe as you can be, that means not driving drunk, No matter how much better of a driver he is compared to the bimbo in her sports car, he isn't a better driver than himself when he is sober, his reaction times will be slower, and milliseconds matter as much as the life they can save. minimize the risks, don't drink and drive, don't talk on your phone as you drive, don't try to find that one song that you cant quite remember on your ipod, Pay attention to the road and the other people who inhabit it, their lives are in your hands.
