Dreadlocks

who's got them, and how do you like them? why not post a picture, let the world see your knatty masterpiece of a hairstyle! theres gotta be some NSers who rock some killer dreads and i wanna see it

i'm planning on letting my hair grow until january then gettin some locks so i have a few questions too.

keep it irie

hey man i have had my dreads for around 4 years i love them to bits. they are pretty messy because i go to uni and yeah dont really need to look presentable so dont really care. i had them for the first time when i was around 15 but they turned to shit because i didnt know how to look after them and the hairdresser who did them knew stuff all. so i cut them off and started again a few yrs later i got my kit from www. dreadheadhq.com and followed the instructions to the letter and they worked! they can show you how to make big one or little one anything you need. only bad thing is i had top buy a massive XL helmet from bern because my head is huge now. hes me and our american exchange student on an agressive binge drinking night!!! best of luck. ii know heaps more if your still interested

ps dont get a hair dresser to do them it costs like 200 and this kit is about 30 just get your mates to do them

I've been thinking to get dreads too. My hair is around my ear (little past them) and am waiting couple more months. I think I'am hoing to dresser cause its cheaper around here (Finland, about 100e) and I want them to be nice looking instead of just a waxy mess.

There is another thread about this (if you havnt already read it), which too can answer your questions.

solid first post!

great lookin dreads too man, those are exactly the size i want to get. so i have 3 questions now, how many dreads is that, how long was your hair, what kind of hair did you have (thick and curly or thin and straight?) I was actually planning on doing it the dreadheadhq way because it seems like my dreads will be a lot more personal and give me way more incentive to actually take care of them and keep them.

thanks man! yeah dreadhead would be the best way to go they have videos and everything to help you. they look mangy as for the first few months but if you stick it out they turn super clean. i wash mine once a month so dont believe all that shit about them stinking and no spiders do not live in your hair i dono why they would want to live in hair???? usually get someone asking that at least once a month, gets old quick... to answer your questions i think i have around 40 to 45 dreads, not really sure? i used to have dead straight and very think hair so i had the worst sort of hair to get dreads so it too a bit more work. and my hair was down to my chin when i started. oh and by the way they hurt so bad when you are getting them done. kinda the same pain as getting a tattoo its pretty much 5 hours of getting your hair pulled by little bits but like a tattoo its so worth it. best of luck with your man!!!

cool mna. ya im expecting it to hurt a bunch. and i have thin straight hair too so its gonna be interesting. just gotta let it grow for a few more months tho, its at ear/nose level right now

if ur not that into everyone says do not get them because they're a pain in the ass, however you could have some bomb ass dreads with hair like that, and i personally would like to see that haha

Had them in highschool for a while it was pretty cool. If you think your hair may or may not be long enough, its not. You want your hair to be a good bit past your shoulders or they'll come out short and look shitty and then it'll take forever to get longer.

i have had mine for a year and a half or so. my hair was down to my chin and also straight and thick. i had to be very patient and it took alot of time and effort but i really like them and hope to have them for a long time.
