Drastic Reduction in Snowfall over the next Decades

So this isn't really that new of news that we're going to get less snow in the future... but this is still shocking to see.

"Snow-lovers in North America are in for a disappointing few decades.

Researchers say climate change is now expected to lead to drastic reductions in annual snowfall rates over the next seventy years -- falling by half in a few extreme cases.

"The vast majority of the U.S. experiences snowfall loss, with the greatest percentages occurring in the south, along the eastern coast, and the Pacific Northwest," say the authors of the report, which was released by the U.S. Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

In Canada, southern Ontario and parts of the Atlantic Coast will see fewer snow, but B.C.'s lower mainland will see an even more drastic reduction.

The U.S. Great Plains and Canadian Prairies will see relatively less snowfall loss.

Only the polar regions and high mountain peaks of the continent will see more snowfall."

Forecasting Snow more than 10 days in advance is almost impossible so how do you expect someone to forecast it 70 years away. I'll believe when I see it.

Well for one they aren't forecasting it to the day. Two they can figure out how fast the earth is warming then using some math estimate the number of days it would be too warm to snow, then based on average precip totals(water not snow) they can estimate how much less snow will fall per year.

As big an issue as global warming and losing snow is, this map shows drastic snow reduction, and the only time frame given is "the future". Seems legit...

doesn't matter, by the time it gets bad we'll have reached singularity and can transcend into any reality we choose for ourselves. Until the AI we create kills us.

Right, because scientists and forecasters can predict seasonal weather averages for decades. Not buying it.

I listen to forecasters at the most 7 days out, beyond that...completely speculation. I see it as equal chances that it could be snowier than usual for decades.

ok, i'm 22..... so in 70 years vermonts snowfall will be 30% less on AVERAGE assuming nothing is done in 70 years to help climate change..... meanwhile since i hope to be out west colorado's will be 10% less on average in 70 years..........SOUND THE ALARMS

yes global warming blows but in 70 years, progress is going to be made to combat it. and i don't plan on living let alone skiing when i'm 92.

sorry to say, but there will be close to no change in helping climate change in such a short ammount of time as 70 years. It will take much longer to see any success especially because there is not that much we can do to help besides try to cut down on pollution (which wont help that much).

With that said I am still for doing all of these things for the long run of the world
