Really 9/11 is out of the question with Iraq, look what Saddam did to those people. He had a problem with killing people so if they didnt have anything to do with 9/11 we stop Saddam from killing all the inocent people that lives over there.

I agree... however, it's not our duty as americans to go out and crush any developing country that may or may not have the means and/or intent to cause us any harm (like Iraq). Some of these totalitarian leaders (ie Saddam) are not very nice people, but that doesn't mean we can just go attack them without direct provocation. Throwing our weight around like this causes unrest and resent in the international community (especially since we didn't even wait for the UN).

first off nobody wants to blow up our country except for terrorists. not sure where you get 1/2 of the world. secondly its hard for me and other americans of voting age to change what happened during the Reagan administration, but hey maybe you can. dwelling on the past never gets you anyways. we are faced with a problem today and we delt with it, regardless of how our 'parents' delt with it. also back then you imply that the US support genocide of the kurds. oh so wrong. the US supported iraq to help fight iran, thats all. iraq killed the kurds on their own agenda. regardless, we cant change that and back then we had no say as to what went on. bringing that up is pointless so i'm not sure what you were thinking. times change.

the majority of the world approves the removal/capture of saddam, BUT some that support his removal/capture don't support the war in iraq. seems to me that they have to come hand in hand, but polls are polls. i try not to take them too seriously all the time.

 
You guys dont seem to remember the situation that happened right before the US engaged with iraq. The reason why the US didnt wait for the UN was because certain permanent members on the security counsel (such as France and Russia) had political leverage in saying that they were against the war. Did you ever see Runaway Jury? Its the same kind of situation. France knew that it was in a position to sway the vote one way or another so it told iraq that it wouldnt give the go ahead to let the US kick their ass as long as there were financial help with oil prices. Russia didnt do it because they were to busy supplying the iraqi army with supplies (night vision goggles, tanks,etc.)in return for that same black gold. It isnt like the UN goes without underlying agendas. The US saw the stonewalling knowing that it would go on forever, so it took action. And its true that we havent found the WMDs yet, but if you were saddam and you had UN inspectors going over your entire nation looking for your dirty laundry, would you keep them there? I would move them to some other country. Syria seemed more than willing to support that idea.

 
hmm, doesn't seem plausable that he moved thousands of weapons out while he was under a magnifying glass by the world. and if he moved them out a few years ago, he wasn't an imminent threat and the weapons shouldn't have came into play.

 
not so much weapons as weapon making materials, but still, some weapons. he had plenty of time to get rid of them. bush would not have put his next term on the line, which he might have done, unless he was positive there was WMDs. his heart was in it, just as ours were. the CIA might have fucked up, BUT bush didnt.
