Dr. NS - Tailbone

so i noticed this last year toward the end of the year, and now that i've started skiing again regularly it came back... It's right at the base of my tailbone and if just feels like i've got a fat bruise right on the bone (contusion?). The thing is, i never hit my tailbone this year or last year dead on, it just appears out of nowhere. So tonight i was working out (I lift weight regularly) and before, it just kinda annoyed me and was pretty sore, but tonight, i was in legit pain. I couldn't do any leg work outs (squat, bench step up, RDL) and after it sucked to even sit down. I don't know what's wrong and i don't wanna go to the doctor so they can tell me to "let it rest", so i come to you NS. What's wrong with me?

sounds like whats happening to my knee. I was just riding around last season and itt started to hurt. I had a MRI done last season and they said they didnt find anythnig but my knee always gives me problems whenever I do alot of physical activities. its fuckin retarded. sorry I couldnt help you jus wanted to throw my story ou tthere also.

i know you said you did not hit your tail-bone but maybe u sat down or fell over funny and hit it, it seems like this is what happened to me during a xc meet when i fell on it, mine was just a bruse(sp) and went away in about 3 days, but it hurt like hell.

no help here. Just hilarity.

I've hurt my tailbone a few times. I mean it usually just goes away

with a good amount of time, but I guess that hasn't really worked for

you. Taking hot baths helped me out a lot, and other than that just

taking it easy. You mentioned that you lift weights regularly so maybe

try taking a few weeks off of lifting. I can't really tell you what is exactly wrong with you so I guess I am no real help. Sorry.

The exact same thing is happening to me. I woke up yesterday morning and suddenly my tailbone was hurting when I would lie on it or jump, like there's a bruise there or something, however I didn't fall on it. I've been skiing pretty much everyday for the past week and a half, but I don't know what would be causing this. It's also in my lower tail bone a bit on my right side. I've tried icing it a bit with snowballs and ice, but I'll see how it feels in the morning and might take a day off tomorrow.

ya, mines on the lowest part on the right side. i think we're experiencing the exact same thing.... and i can't take time off weightlifting for a while because it's a class that i get a grade in.

ok i need a bump. went skiing the other day.. wish i hadn't. I'm really stiff and can't even sit on a couch right, i have to lean or lay down. Help!!
