i don't think this is serious enough to consult a physician, although there's a possibility it could be something that i need checked out
so on wednesday i went and played some soccer, it was only shooting and mostly with my right foot. i hadn't played in a few weeks and i shot for about an hour with no pain or anything. last night while going to bed my knee felt kinda stiff and while doing a quad stretch i couldn't move it back very far. i can usually get my heel to hit my ass but the farthest my knee can go now is like 4 inches from my butt and then it just stops. while bending it back it hurts on the back of my knee a little, kinda dull pain, and then when i pull it closer to my ass it starts to hurt right on the front. none of this pain is bad at all
i noticed today that it was kinda swollen, when it's bent all the way it seems really swollen on the inside of my knee, like on the side of the cap
so i iced it and it's kinda the same but i'm wondering if it's nothing or if there's fluid in there that i need drained out. there was no direct trauma and no incident that really felt like it hurt and my knee was never sore towards the end of playing but now it's just weird
so anyone had this experience before? should i not worry or should i go to a doctor and see if there's fluid in there

Sounds like something got pulled or sprained. (Im not a MD) I would say keep icing it, and maybe alternate heat with ice for a while. And probibly rest it for a bit from soccer related activities. I busted my knee blading a bit back, and I didnt give it time to heal, and It took a lot longer to heal. So make sure you dont tweak it again any time soon.

it just seems weird though because nothing really happened and it's not bad pain, it just feels stiff and it's swollen

you got a concussion. dont do any serious physical activity involving danger to the head for the next few weeks. if youre still experiencing dizziness/headaches in a few weeks contact me again at 555.555.5555

any of these symtoms?
[*]Pain (usually on the lower third of the tibia) that occurs after running long distances.[*]Tenderness and swelling over the site of the fracture.[*][*] [*] [*]caused by:[*] [*]Overloading the bone by continuous muscle contractions for example in running.[*]Stress distribution in the bone altered because of continuing to run when the muscles are particularly fatigued. (Muscles are unable to take some of the stress so rely more on the bone).[*]A sudden change in running surface for example going from grass training to lots of track or road running.[*]Lots of small impacts on the bone even though they may be very small, a cumulative effect can build up.

Give it some more time and see how it is. Take it easy for a few days and see how your knee reacts. No need to panic yet. However, you have the symptoms I had when I tore my meniscus playing soccer my senior year of high school, although I had a specific time I knew I hurt it in a game (making a cut). If anything's definitely wrong, the swelling will be better in the mornings but pretty bad and stiff by the late evening from you just putting weight on it all day. Best of luck and I hope everything is ok.

it feels kinda the same today, still swollen, when i bend it it starts to hurt on the back and i feel a little bit of popping

go straight to a kinesitherapist, (dunno if its the right translation, a doctor specialized in muscle and or bone injuries, sportsdoctor?)
you definately wanna be Ok again by next season, so go now, i myself am still strugling with an untreated sprained ankle from christmas....

The popping is most likely just some cartilage or ligaments that have their normal range of motion inhibited or changed due to the swelling. Ice it for 20 minutes on and off and keep it elevated when you're icing it. Make sure you keep moving it, even if you don't have a full range of motion, to make sure if doesn't stiffen up. One sure test to see if something is wrong is to do a wall-sit style test. Stand with your back against a wall and squat down until your hamstrings are parallel with the ground and your knees are at a 90 degree angle. If you feel a lot of weakness or if that knee just feels unstable and standing back up is a problem, then something is most likely wrong and it's time to get an MRI.

i had these same things, and that was after i fell bad on a jump, i ended up with a minor tear in my ACL you should get it checked out, problems with your ACL create swelling inside the knee making around the kneecap really puffy. i also couldnt bend it al the way, just like your having problems, i had those same ones. id get it checked out personally.

could also be a cyst growing in your knee shit randomly happens my dad has it go get it checked out

i tried different stretches and wall sits and none of it hurts it, it doesn't feel weak really, just very stiff with a little pain in the back
it almost feels like someone took my leg and put my shins at a 90 degree angle from my thighs and like pushed my knee towards my body so it popped in closer. i almost feel like it needs to pop back out again. i know that is not actually the case because it would be much more painful and weaker, but that's the best i can describe it
it only feels bad when i try to pull my heel as close as i can to my butt and then the front starts to hurt or when i lie down with my foot to either side and twist my body
i read up on lots of different symptoms i have and they're all associated with a good amount of pain or a direct trauma which i really don't have

i just thought of this, on wednesday i also longboarded for the first time in like 2 years, i was pushing around town a lot and i push with my right foot which is the sore knee, that could have something to do with it

Something very similar happened tome, but i never got any swelling, so yours seems worse. I was shooting some really hard penalty kicks so we could decide who would take them in a game, and was hitting them hard into the upper left corner (claim). Later, my knee really hurt, probably from kicking too hard too often, and i like pulled something. Mine went away after a week, but no swelling like yours. I'm no doctor, but wait a little, and if nothing gets better, it's off to the doctor for you.

i'm thinking maybe impact and going lower than my other foot to push, i wasn't riding hills, just around town which has hills so i was pushing a lot, i'm thinking maybe it bugged it a bit
i played some tennis today and it felt fine, i didn't run hard but just hitting a few balls it felt all good it just feels weird when i bend it

i went to the doctor and he said because it's hot that it's probably not related at all to the longboarding and soccer
my xrays showed up normal so he stuck a needle in my knee and drew fluid to test it (don't ever let anyone do that to you, fucking terrible) and i went to the hospital and got some blood work done
they think it may be lyme disease, if left untreated it can cause swelling in a joint as a first symptom, my cousin had the exact same thing in his knee, but my question is if it turns out to be lyme and i go on antibiotics, how long until my knee is normal again?
right now i can barely move it because of the trauma of the needle, it sucks, but i'm glad i saw a doc
