Dps touring line

so. I'm drunk and on ns while smoking outside right now and this is on my mind. I saw today on facebook that dps is releasing a 'touring specific' line for next year. This is all I know and in this state, in not about to link anything. sorry, not sorry.

Point is - their carbon line is really light and from all the unbiased reviews (both in person and online) I've read say wonderful things about the skis for touring. I guess I'm just wondering - how can they improve? Or is it just remarketing?

Fuck yeah. I request you and any other ns folk at SIA cover shit somewhat critically. Don't let the reps/owners talk the regular jargon. Ask them questions they can't turn into puff marketing bullshit. As Doug always says, we are the future, and be damned if we follow the same road as other media with vested interest and a fear of upsetting the herd.
 
Ive only skied the 112's pure 1 day inbounds in the dive at ssv where they sucked huge donkey balls, deflection, chatter ect ect. and then 3 days touring rogers pass . They were fine there as you would expect with 20+ cms everyday and then on my last run, I crumpled the core and that way the end of my skiing dps. I think the ski is light enough already, unless you are looking to just make mellow turns a little junk in the truck isn't a bad thing and to ditch another 300g's off the pure sounds like a terrible idea but a " freeride ski". Maybe that's just me, I am a bit of a bulldozer

Unfortunately didn't get to cover DPS, so no input, and yeah, that critical attitude is super important, it's just hard to have any real input without skiing any of the gear.
 
I'm going to say that, from the outset, I wanted the Tour1 to suck. My theory was that it would be rattley, gross, and not too fun.

But after skiing a pair of them (Wailer 105, 179?) with downhill bindings over groomers, through crud, and also some icy bumps at SIA, they weren't horrible. Not very lively, but not dead either, and way more damp than I would have imagined.

Stupid light. Unreal light. Probably like land backseat and snap them light. But whoa.

So who knows about durability. But as a first impression, I think DPS has hit a home run, and these things will sell like hotcakes to the weight weenies with cash to burn.

humm, i was sure they would just bounce around all over the place. the fact that you can say the term damp at all with this is impressive to me . thanks for the update

wish they were black and flex 3's but they warruntied red 2's and let me keep the old ones and i milked another hundy days outtta them
 
dps' new tour 1 composite is significantly lighter and will also be cheaper than the pure 3/4 composite skis. most will comfortably be able to ski the tour 1s at resort because they are damp for their weight however they are meant for touring so they are supposed to be most comfortable for uphill trafficing. overall I think the skis are impressive but haters gunna hate on an expensive ski. also anyone heard more rumors about the dps boot??

I have heard from a reliable source that the boots are real and a work in progress. Sounds like there has been a lot of development put into it.

Met the man but that don't mean I'm not talking out of my ass or anything. I'm no DPS fanboi, have liked some of their skis (Spoon 120), but don't salivate over everything they produce, and have thought that others were utterly terrible (138), these new tour1 skis are seeming to fall in the latter category.

I think at this point, it will be safe to say these things suck. DPS have never really had anything that justified spending a few hundred more than the competition. but these are worse than much of the competition, and are heavier and more expensive than some of it.

My favorite comment I have heard on these was:

"The 112 RP.2 Tour 1 didn't even feel solid skating from the dps tent to the lift" and "Sucks, badly."

So if you want to buy it, go ahead; your money. Blizzard zeroG 108 is lighter, cheaper, and can actually be skied with relative safety above 20 mph - really, it fucking rips.
