Yeah i agree which is why i think that the whole thing needs an edge.. and this is hard to explain without having my hands to show you, ya know? but if the edge of the ski goes like this:

On the various points that do hit the snow then depending on your pressure on your ski, how far forward your leaning, crud, ice, endless factors, one ski could engage on say the middle slash, and the other on the first, for example. and that would cause your skis to split apart from each other and your laying there with a torn groin. this is all on groomed stuff however, and i doubt that could happpen in powder, so there shouldnt be too much problem, its just something that i saw could cause some bad things
