i used to use kazaa, but after a while, my puter got messed up causeof spyware. anyways...so if I want the music, I figure I should just buy the CD, mainly because I usually like most of what's onthe CD. I just dun support d/ling a ton of music, because that gets really outta hand, and is probably so many artist's complete (or partial) CDs that it DOES cost the artist's in the long run because they dun sell as many CDs...

Would professional DJs even use mp3s? I very much doubt it due to quality issues. Most won't even use CD.

And downloading - here in the UK $25 US is normal for a CD. I'm all for supporting bands, the industry, the scene, but if I was to buy my mp3 library in CDs that would cost me $5000, which I haven't got. If I was to only buy CDs, I would have maybe 25% of my current collection, which is selfish to whine about I know, but the way I see it a load of bands that I would otherwise never have heard of have got their music heard by me, which will lead to me going to their shows and buying merch. If I see a live band and I like them, I will always buy a shirt, stickers, pin, etc, and very often I'll buy CDs that I already have mp3s of. If you buy a CD in a huge record store, how much money do the band get from it? Not a lot, though I know it all adds up when millions of people are downloading instead.

There will always be a demand to get stuff for free, and there will always be a means to get it. There is nothing you, me, the government, record labels or bands can do about it.

i like kazaa lite. and what the fuck is diet kazaa?

Me: Are you proud do you want a medal for that?

dj tiesto is like the best dj in the world and he thinks downloading shit is alright, and if u want to get some things like live events from clubs and shit downloading is the only way to go

i dont know about you guys but after i download some good songs, i go search for the cd. maybe less and less people will buy cds. but we will see who still does it FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC.

and dj bring your shit anyday of the week faggot. the pop ups have nothing do do with music companies getting money anyways, its how the hosts pay for their shit. and well i dont want screens popping up about how to lose weight, or how to enlarge my penis, or people sending me messages about how to not get messages. fuck you you little piece of shit, and any day, find me and punch me in the face please.

what is spywear?

i am sort of against this dling thing as long as ur not making a profit out of it like some ppl does. eg. buring a cd for ur friend for 5$,etc.

if u like the group/music, get their cd to support them, not burn their whole album.

spyware are little programs included in other programs, which analyse your computer or your behavior in the internet and send that info to the developers...with those information, they might advertise more precisely or sell it to however they want to.....

dude.... bands make like 25 cents on each cd they sell. all the money goes to the label. so the only way a band is making money off cd sales is if they sell like millions of cds, and if thats the case, they really aren't gona care if someone grabs some music from online. they make their money from shows, and from other merch that they sell at shows. at least thats how it is with indie bands, and that main stream shit all sucks anyways, and I really don't care if all those bastards are pissed. but yea, downloading music is the only way most indie bands get noticed these days, and it inspires people to go to the shows, and buy the merch. yea.

smuggs, your's and Jeff's comment on 'if i like a band I download, I go out and buy the cd' is what I was waiting for.

That's fine.

Bro, I wasn't trying to get that from you. Chill. You didn't say that stuff in the beginning, I responded to how you typed in the first message.

I have nothing against it personally, except now anyone can go to best buy, get PRO DJ equipment, yes, it's at best buy now, go download all of their music, and boom, they are a 'dj'. then they charge 10 dollars an hour, and put a bad name for all djs'.

sorry, this is turning into a dj debate more than a debate on ethics.

that's what it comes down to. obviously, from now on, there will ALWAYS be p2p things like kazaa, but it's about your ethics. if you think that because you're 1 person it doesn't matter, fine.

but if you want to support the industry, knock yourself out.

i download as much of an artist as i can find...and then i delete it if i don't like it. if i do like it i keep it and burn it for my friends if they like it. henceforth i produce bootlegged cd's for all of my friends and don';t charge them shit. so we know of bands and shit and we all enjoy some of the same music. and then we goto one of their shows and have a good time. then the band gets trendy and we don't goto their shows anymore because they're filled with a shitload of trendy lame ass kids who have britney spear shirts and eminem on their hats. at least that's what happened to the band slightly stoopid around here....fuck that shit. im happy they got popular, but i loved seeing them at tiny shows where it was like 20-40 people in the audience and them. and besides, downloading music lets you check someone out. i download the whole cd, check it out, and burn it if i like it, if i don't like it, i delete it. saves me the hassel of buying a cd at the store that sucks. besides cd's used to be cheap...then they started ajcking up the price, that's why everyone started downloading and sharing music. had they just made it $7-$10 a cd, i would buy it. but it's fucking like $20 with tax. for one pathedic cd that i could burn......what the hell do they think is gonna happen. it's like charging $50 for a hoodie. i'd much rather buy a sack and make my own hoodies.

oh yea same thing happened with jack johnson. a friend of mine was checking some g-love shit out and noticed the name jack johnson in one of his songs, so he checked him out. turns out 6 months to a year later the fucking world loved jack johnson. and now he's overplayed. fuck the radio. it wrecks a lot of good songs. so brody, jsut try to remember that most people are downloading shit that is broadcasted all voer the fucking world. because most people in this world listen to shitty music. and then there are the few who spend a lot of time looking into it and try to find shit 6 months before it gets popular, just so they can enjoy it without the fag heards wrecking it. i guess what i mean is, those of us who LOOK for music need the online music programs, because it's our only source of getting the artists music, no one else has it. im sure you can relate.

My signature sucks.

Damn I can't believe people say Jack is overplayed. I have never heard him on the radio.

I'm out like a fat kid playing dodgeball!

hopefully i can see ben harper and jack johnson in the summer. im tryin to get some tickets. woo hoo.

yea mercer..... thats the shit.... I wouldn't be able to listen to any of the music I listen to with out the internet.... like before kazaa... I had the hardest time getting anything... its not like I can just walk into a record store and find all the cds I want.... I'd be lucky to find one band I liked. yep.
