Downloading music illegally

I have a debate on that subject tomorrow and a few of my arguememts are its gets them more publicity if people download their music for free cause then they can sample it and shit. Another one is when you download songs you can choose the good ones instead of paying 15 dollars for a cd with only a few good songs. But a counter to that would be itunes you can buy individual songs instead of buying the cd. So i need help with how to argue that point about itunes and shit. Plus if you guys have any good reasons why downloading music should be free thatd be great.

i say that buying an ipod should be enough for apple to let you buy all your songs for free, or at least for way lless than they sell theirs(maybe like 20 cents per song).

pt.1

its no different from sharing a cd with ur friend, so it shouldnt be considered wrong.

pt.2

ppl of our generation who listen to as much music as we do can't afford to pay 15 dollars for each cd we get. i get a bunch of albums a month, sometimes a week. i wouldnt be able to fund my music listening.

on the otherside tho i feel bad for artists who dont make nearly as much money as they should be

you got a really shitty side of the argument. the teacher will probably realize this and give you a decent grade as long as you sound decent but you will get ripped. The other team will be saying things like "you wouldn't steal a CD from the store so why can you do it on the internet" or "the artists have rights to this music and this is completly being avoided." You have no chance. Good luck cause i can't even think of a way to sound intelligent in this argument

Music should be a service and not a privilege. I don't feel like paying a bunch of suits, for something that they had nothing in creating (i.e. so little of the money you pay for the cd goes to the artist, but rather to the record label).
