Down flat down help

Okay so I searched and the advice was just to go out and do it. Not exactly what I was looking for.

I can handle getting onto the box but is there advice for the down to flat kink? Should i just angle my leading ski away from the box? How should I absorb the kink?

Thanks.

bend your knees on the first kink

then sort of straighten out a little on the last one so you stay locked in

try to balance over the balls of your feet

and thats all i have to say about that...

i think if you go fast enough you won't even notice. i've never noticed kinks on boxes for some reason- prolly kuz i havent done enough big ones. but flat down flat jsut go fast and make sure your knees are bent the whole way so you can absorb some impact.

i use to fear the exact same thing, and still kinda do on some setups but u really dont notice the kink much depending on how kinked it is. Like the fear of edge catching on the kink doesnt really happen much. i just jump onto the rail like i do for every other normal rail. Theres not really any sorta technique for the down to flat kink. Your front ski is normally angled up a bit when u grind down rails.

just get on the box like always and bend your knees to suck up the impact of the kink. like you said angle your outside edge alittle.

I know you said that this didn't help you but really just do it. Hit it like a normal box, look for the end. get a good jump onto the box and just let it slide, you may not do the whole thing your first try but at least you'll have the feeling. I just did my first dfd this year without even meaning to, there was a line of a flat box and then the dfd and i hit it without thinking at all and now im totally comfy with it.
