now when pc landed one and when jacob tried one everyone shat on them nad gave them tons of shit because they thought skiing was turning into aerials. but when jossi landed a switch dub 14 back in 07 way before that i heard only good things about and still to this date i dont hear people say bad shit about it. just wondering what people thought?

I think I remember what you are talking about, and it might of happened at some big air comp. I remember there was a good amount of hate on "spin to win" back then too.

thats just newschoolers man. bunch of people who see something new and go "wow thats awesome i hope skiing moves in that direction" then once it does they say its overdone and skiing isn't as cool what it used to be.
i remember a dude commented on that video of jossi and called him out on the grab and people ripped him apart saying its ridiculous to even consider grabbing on a trick like that. now if you do any kind of double, there better be a grab or the entire wrath of newschoolers will come raining down with anti-ariels expressions.

C'est pas vrai, mec.

I'd say the majority on here always hated spin to win. It looks ugly, and sucks. Everytime a new big spin or double gets invented, people call it aerials, it's always been like that. I remember when everyone was doing switch 10s as the big trick in 06 I believe, and they were even calling that spin to win back then.

Mental!!!

I don't think we should hate on PC fosse, because he's really innovative and has tons of style. I'm quite sure he didn't plan on making dub 14s a habit, and he probably just tried it to see what he was capable of, and not because he wanted "win to spin" to be the factor in comps. And I guess everyone has heard of Henriks sw 16 (and yes, i know it has tons of style).

PC Fosse is btw injured because he overrotated one of his kangaroos, while trying double mute to bow and arrow. Yeah, that's sick.

i remember when spin to win was all about sw 10s, and i dont think that the problem is all the pros who are doing these tricks, its the fact that the judges will always score them very in comps because of the difficulty factor. if everyone is doing the same trick (whether it be sw 10s or kangaroos) the point value should be decreased every time it is done which, i think, would cause more originality in runs. if you need proof, watch jon at big air in the X-Games. Every FUCKING run was a kangaroo. now, i love jon as much as everyone, hes awesome, but every run, the same move, i was happy that simon won with a superman double, it was original.

thank you.

video of this? do you mean that spring shoot he had, where he just stomped it every singel time? cause if thats the one you're thinking about, i believe that was 10s, not 14s.

yeah i think your right, i dont remember 14s and it would have been a bigger deal i think. .. someone post a vid if im wrong cause i wanna see that

JOI a couple years ago jossi did a sw dub 14... super clean..
to the original poster, i think its because jossi did it on a massive jump and could slow it down. pc fosse did it on a public park kicker. a fucking big public park kicker.

Does anyone else realize that spin to win is about progression? These guys can do sw5's in their sleep I ski to get better, progress and do more tricks smoother, Im sure they do the same. Its just stepping up.

I didnt mean fashion i meant pleasing to the eye/makes you excited. Its a vague defination i cant put into words but i know its not "progression" since like 1999 all you hear about is "progressing the sport." Where is it going? Why does it need to move? what exactly is progression? Can a dub 14 and wallish's zero in turbo both be considered progession?

Im not trying to hate i just want to discuss the difference between skiing big air and aeriels.

fun and expression are different things to different people. who are you to tell people what aspects of skiing to care about?

freestyle skiing, like every other sport, is sport where somebody wants to be number 1. therfor the sport always evolves and progresses - automaticly. So, as you very clearly have seen, some people like to push it in the direction of doubleflips and crazy spins. but on the other hand, we have skiers that like to push the sport in the more stylish way, a couple people tend to forget that. i mean think about the difference in style before and after brogan, wallisch, harlaut and those people..

i think its sick what its progressing to but i guess i like the oldschool stuff better. and by old school i mean single corks and not to much more than a switch 10. just my take. style > speed of spins

He also did a hexo flip and olsson flip. But I agree that jon always did his kangaroo in 08, not in 09

Yea who gets excited when they land their first dub 14. Everyone should know by now that skiing is serious and not fun, so any claiming or expressing of fun in any way is gounds for imeadiate dissing and hate!

i think people are stupid and should just calm down, seriously. why all the hate? just let people do what they want to do, fuck.

Thats the point. Nobody is progressing shit. What does that even mean? You think nobody has done a triple flip before? Look at the video i posted, that was womens ariels 2006. Everything has been done, skiing is older then the wheel, Skis are the first method of transportation.

Please dont think you are changing skiing, or "progressing" anything. You are sliding down a hill with friends. Isnt that fun enough?

well for one pc added 2 more rotation into it and 2 it was of something like a 70ft jump? i mean come on he could honestly show up to an aerial contest and do decent. idk its when the gap between freestyle and aerials becomes to short people start to get there feathers up. we dont need to be the snow bladeing of aerials.
