I heard a rumor at school that someone (I think Tanner Hall) landed a backflip 1080. I call Bs but I thought I check out if neone can tell me if this happened. It supposedely took 2 days to buil the Jump

 
Do you perhaps mean a D-Spin 1080? It's an off axis rotation and has some similarities to a backflip.

Go watch 13 again and you'll see a freestyler (I forget which one) throw a twisting double back in the backcountry - and that was like 5 years ago!

Okay first of all a risky flip is where you start the motion you would throw a dspin 7, then after the first 3 you change your momentum and throw it into a backflip to finish the trick. Its not a dspin 7 to backflip. Werd to whoever mentioned the size of the dspin 1080 done by tanner shown in freeze....for a trick that ill and technical he should have thrown it off of a larger jump. And a double back 1080 is a waste of time if you're into newschool. I dont' ever believe you could really style a trick like that out. If thats what you are into then you;re in teh wrong segment of skiing. Go hit up aerials if you want to be throwing double back 1080s. Thats my opinion anyways....peace.
