I finally snagged DOOM3 on Monday night and quickly installed it into my computer. I have to say it's excellent game, most areas is quite too dark to see, despite brightness scale is already jacked up to max. That forces me to use flashlight almost all times to be able to see what I'm bumping into. The graphic is excellent, but my computer keeps burning up, I had to remove the covering thing and place the fan toward my computer to keep it cool. Turns out DOOM3 is bit too much for my ATI Radeon 9500 pro card to handle, LOL.

graphically, its the most amazing game ever.

My 9600 cant really handle it either, so hopefully Ill get an x800 soon

i have a 9600 with 256mb of ram. I also have a AMD XP 2700 overclocked to a 3200. when i play halo and UT 2004 i turn the graphics all the way up and it runs perfectly. however i doubt it will run Doom 3 very nicley.

Yah the guy on tech tv this morning said the MINIMUM specs are 1.8ghz and 381megs of ram.

better to burn out...

I am running it on medium settings which is still amazing on a athlon 1900, 512 ram, and a geforce3 ti200.

How will it work on a Penitum 4 2.66GHz, 512mb ram, 128 NVIDIA GeForce4 and MX440 graphics card?

That's whats printed right on my comp, please let me know if it will work alright because I am burning to play it.

id software released a 20 page HARDWARE PERFORMANCE SPEC SHEET that is true so that everyone can buy doom and know if their gonna enjoy it...check their site

the geforce 4 mx is gonna be a little rough but that is the very minimum requirement. the rest is good though

No, the min requirement to run DOOM3 on your PC is:

P4 1.5Ghz CPU (or equivalent).

384MB of RAM.

64MB graphics card (see below for chip details).

2GB of free hard drive space.

Video Cards:

GF FX (and higher).

Radeon 8500s, 9000s and higher.

My PC is only equipped with 1.40GHZ AMD Althon XP 1600, and 256mb RAM, along with ATI Radeon 9500 Pro video card.

I had to take my PC out of that desk slot thing, and remove the case, also use a fan toward this PC to keep it cool much as possible. Even change the resolution to lowest setting DOOM3 offers, and say 'No..' to full screen option to reduce frequency of lagging, and making DOOM3 more stable for my PC to handle. :( It's been crashing constantly, so changing these setting on DOOM3 options helped a lot.

This PC is hooked up with 1000w subwoofer, it adds postive points on playing DOOM3 since my PC cant really handle much.

I first played DOOM when I was about 12 years old. Man it was the best game I've played as a kid, comparing to it Wolfenstein 3D sucked.

 
it won't work on my roomate's laptop, so he gave it to me, but i'm cleaning house today so i haven't installed it yet.....i hope it works, i have a geforce4 128meg DDR vid card (another free gimme) but i only have an athlon with 1.2mhz and 256megs of ram.....we'll see how it goes

doom 3 in essence is a basic fps... it is definitely nothing unique, the guns are dull, and the enemies get predictable. However, if graphics don't make a game, doom 3 is the game that shows otherwise. Doom isnt the best fps, but due to its graphics, sound, and darkness, it sets the mood so well that it freaks people out and turns what would have been a usual average fps into the nicest looking game ever. ever.

farcry is a graphical masterpiece, doom is ridiclous the specs./damn

bought it, played it, beat it.

FarCry is a great game with good graphics.

But, Doom 3 blows it away.
 
doom 3 was one of the worst games ever made. so many better games with worse graphics (gta san andreas for instance).
 
doom and gta are totally different though.

its like comparing a piss funny stoner movie with some drama that won an oscar
 
doom and dukenukem will always be so 1337. i just put doom 2 on my ipod, its sick i play it when im finished with my finials at school, mad fun
