Don't support the House

Ok, we have a strong ski community here. I want everyone to know theres a couple shops that are 100% for you guys. Summit and ourselves strive to do as much as we can for you, from NS discounts, to hosting rail jams and movie premiers. We are partially why our scene is thriving. WIth the House advertising on here I want you all to know they do not care about skiing, they just care about the money they can make by selling skis. For so long they only sold snowboards, now that freestyle has established its self, they feel now they can swoop in and lure people with their cheap package skis. If you buy skis from the House, they CAN'T even mount your skis; no one there is certified to do so, so you would have to go to another shop anyways. Skiing equipment shouldn't be purchased online anyways. From warranties, to boot fitting to mounts, the local shops are part of skiing.

Completely agree. The House is really close to where I live, so I stopped in a few days ago to see if I could get fitted for some boots. My experience was exactly how you described it... nobody knew how to fit a boot, and in addition their selection and prices were pretty bad. Wasn't aware of the mounting thing either.

I've been to Summit and have had a good experience, and I'm sure you guys would be the same way. i'll be steering clear of the house. the way both of your shops support the local scene is great too, keep it up.

wait how would one go about claiming this? just say youre on ns or what?

and ive never bought from the house, nor do i plan on it

The mounting skis has me. There is big money to be made in that for shops. Why sell Skis & Bindings if your not going to mount them.

I have a friend who was thinking about picking up some of there house brand skis. Told him I wouldn't trust them considering noone knows anything about the actual company and that same that you said if you can support a local ski shop or if you're that strapped for cash here on Newschoolers

I still havent been able to make it in to Pinewskis but Ive heard nothing but great things about them though so Ill most definitely be stopping in sometime soon! Im in need of a new pair of boots!

there's a reason that people who ski 50+ days/year go to pinewskis or summit. now please expand westward and build a second location in bozeman. you'd think a ski town like this would have a shop that compares, but there just isn't one.

pinewskis and summit are where its at.

Just picked up a pair of SPK's from pinewskis two days ago. Good selection, and great people.

Support the local shops!

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING! I'LL ADMIT I'VE BOUGHT A FEW THINGS FROM THEM, BUT I'VE SEEN THE LIGHT! THEY DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT SKIS!

To call the house a shop is wrong in itself. The House Boardshop is a gigantic wharehouse and office building with employees who know absolutley nothing and don't care about winter sports at all. They are the largest online sporting goods retailer in the world! If you choose them then your not a skier.

This thread seems incredibly distasteful. Could've gotten the same message across by just saying "support us or Summit instead of other places because we have NS discounts and care about skiing and stuff". Or at least created it NOT under the official Pinewskis account. Not that I don't agree it's bullshit they don't mount (not to mention they've started trying to sell camping gear now...wtf is up with that?), but I know that every time they sell a set of skis and bindings they refer the customers up to Pinewskis, which is a hell of a lot farther than say Joe's or some place they could just as easily send customers. Frankly if it weren't for the House, I'd have no idea you guys even existed, and wouldn't have brought my and three friends' equipment to get mounted. Dick move, Pinewskis. Dick move.

Or perhaps you could have done a little research into local ski shops, and not supported a business that for several years took pride in being a "snowboard only" business. I don't know how long you have been around the MN ski community, but not long ago The House was nothing but disrespectful and elitist towards skiing...

Did anybody see the Houses mailout ad from this August? They spelled just about every word wrong under the ski section. I even read "This ski comes in sizes for all SHOE sizes" YOU DON'T PICK A SIZE BASED ON SHOE SIZE

I'm buying K2 recoils there, but I'll defy get them mounted somewhere else. I couldn't find recoils anywhere else...

I would support my local shop, but they are just as clueless about park skiing as the housse. The look they gave me for asking them to detune my edges was gold.

I've never shopped at pinewskis but I have at summit and those guys were so helpful. They even gave me the ns discount before I had joined. The summit rocks.

Bump because I AM FURIOUS. With summit closing down and the House putting on this pathetic attempt to draw freeskiers to it's boardshop, I've hit a breaking point. I disliked the video on 8 different youtube accounts and I'm about to put some comments on there that will put them in their place. I'm pissed. I'm really really pissed. Here is the video, I recommend you give it a dislike and tell them that they are a boardshop that knows nothing about skiing.

Supporting the house is like supporting Walmart. Sure you can get good deals, but they arent putting anything back into the community and have no clue what they are talking about. Their company is spanning the country and taking out local ski shops in the process where the employees know what they are talking about and the shops sponsor and put on a ton of events for the communities! Fuck the HOUSE

The House rules. FYI I am fairly certain they purchased two different ski companies out of Tahoe a couple years back. And Paddy, who conducted the interview with Jossi is the shit.

Wut? I went in there awhile back to see if I could find some boots (didn't know about summit) and I received absolutely terrible advice. The guy matched me up with a boot based on my street shoe size, and then asked me if it felt good. That was it. I have NEVER seen anyone there display any sort of skiing knowledge.

Not to mention they over price all there shit. Line website says $399.99 for 14' afterbangs and the house put them out for $500.00. Looks like they over price all there shit $80-$120 more than manufacturer prices. lol
