Don't ski Tremblant

Seriously gang avoid us. Budget cuts are catching up to Intrawest fast and their insistant lying is hurting. Here is what is going on.

The Duncan and Soleil quads have been shut down since thurs. So has the Gondola been closed most of the time.

Now the Duncan and TGV quads have been evacuated this year. The reasoning for the chairs being closed is because they predicted very cold temps, or high wind. Well the real reason is because of how much it costs to run them when it is very cold. And it is very cold here. But Intrawest has ran those lifts with no problems in cold temps and wind since I've lived here. Money is the reason. Hydro sky rockets when they are run in the extreme cold.

But it is costing and hurting the skiers/riders here. If you ski the north side. You have to take the Expo Chair, then ski down to the Thomas triple to get to the top. Because everyone is bottlenecked there now lines are longer than what I've ever experienced here. The fastest I timed myself getting from the expo to the top today via the singles lines was 54:38 minutes. When it is -22C outside you can suffer hypothermia when in an idle position in 10minutes.

I just thought I would pass this along. Thought you might want to know incase you come up here.

Tremblant is a nice area and also a big summer pull so hopefully intrawest will have a good summer and be at full operating capacity by next season

park is sick, so as long as the ones that service those two areas are running

I don't condone this.

it's probably thanks to the guys at explore who are making bank working for the resort! but seriously dude, you live up there, i live up there, and on days when it is sooooooo cold, there is no need to ski. sit inside, have a drink by the fire, and chill. skiing since tuesday has been a total waste of time unless you frostbite and such. they have always had maintenance problems with the duncan anyway. and besides, intrawest is a real estate company, not a ski management group; the mountain has only been developed to draw people into buying condos.

but i agree, i have run into the duncan problem, and the tgv problem come to think of it, and it is annoying.

and about the lying...they blatantly lied about their pipe this year, it scared alot of people, and wasnt cool. so yeah, two thumbs down to tremblant's management this year.

actually you're wrong. they haven't lied about the pipe. snow is being made daily, and it should be groomed and ready to go in the coming days and weeks.

no, im right. they went on and on about saying they werent gonna have a pipe, and made people go to great lengths to protest it (a petition was made). then they turn around and say they are making a pipe, and they denied it before to 'scare people and to not get our hopes up'.

ive been there a few times since the snow has been blown, and im fully aware that they are having a pipe. my point was they lied by saying they werent having one. then their cover up was weak too.

I dont give a shit what anyone says, intrawest MADE tremblant what it is today. There is no way we would have such an amazing park without intrawest, altho i know they can be weasely bastards sometimes. They undoubtedly have one of the best parks in the east this year period.

Drop Cliffs not Bombs

I worked intrawest for two seasons, my resort in west virginia 'snowshoe' became retarded throughout my stay, they built countless new hotels while refusing to expand their already meager terrain, this caused waits of around 45 minutes on weekends to ski literally 800 feet (60 seconds) of vert. They have no idea what they are doing, when you dump all your money to condos and hotels and get people up there AND THEY HAVE A SHITTY ASS HORRIBLE TIME, they probably won't come back next year. I feel for these tourists who can only ski 8 short runs the whole day because of the lack of trails and one highspeed quad that all trails dump into more or less

We pay our debt sometimes.

/\there is probably is no room for expansion at snowshoe. so they build lots of hotels to make a buck. they dont care what you, a local, thinks. all they care about is making money from dumb tourists, thats where almost any succesful ski resorts makes thier money.

there is plenty of room to expand in the valley that surrounds snowshoe, just not on top where the village is. i havnt been in about 2 years though so what do i know.

Have any of you been to Tremblant lately? Some snowboarder int he Fortune park said he was there from Wed-Fri, and it took about an hour to get on any chairlift. That's pretty insane if it's true
