Dont mount your skis dead center

Your entire argument falls down on the bit about wanting your shins against the front of your boots. That's complete shit. In a neutral stance you should be able to feel both the front and back of your cuff, as in you should be supporting yourself instead of relying on the boot to hold you in an unnatural position. Aside from nose-presses and butters, why would you want to lean into your boot anyway?

Which is why on instructors courses they get them to do a bunch of skiing with their boots undone, so they learn not to rely on their boot alone.

besides you look way steezier when you ski with your feet super close together, hands over your dick, and leaning back. it's a great way to flail down a groomer on the way from the park to the lift

if you want to make good turns, you press on your big toes since it engages the tips of your skis and allows you to set an edge. i think you'll find that while pressing on the big toe of your downhill ski, you're pretty damn far forward in your boots

I have skied on center mountain skis, race skis, and all mountain -2.5 or even -5 mounting points. i find good and bad to both rails are so much better on center mount. for groomers i find them a bit harder to pull hard tuns and maintain a soild edge grip. jumps go with -1 to -2. all my skis are -2.5 even my powder skis i find them a happy medium. and i dont ski much park. but if i do i ski on center mounts... my 2 cents no hate

Another person that never really rides center is B-dog. I'm not saying you shouldn't but if your skid are mounted center on skis like halos or alphas it's going to affect the performance. But other than that mounting center if fine on most unsymmetrical park skis

If you are too far up on the ski your edge grip and overall power in a carve goes way down. Try carving super backseat and notice how much better the ski rides when weight is applied to the strongest part

I have an oldish pair of K2 Extremes. They were originally mounted at rec. They skied just fine. Then I moved the bindings up a bit (I'd say about -2 like OP said) made no difference. Moved them to dead center, guess what OP! No difference at all. They still charge just as hard as they ever did, regardless of where i was on the ski.

I ride rossignol scratches at true center with no problems at all, I take them wherever the fuck I want without any problems.

fully symetrical, I'll think ill centermount.

But what you said with Henrik that he doesn't centermount, it's because armada skis are built to be mounted 2cm back, swing weight, shape etc.

So with this mount center thing there is the obvious symmetrical skis should be mounted dead center.

what I have done with my non-symmetrical skis that I like to ride park on (older bacons, rossi scratches, moment pbj) is flex the ski and look for the hinge in the flex pattern on the front and the tail and mark those points and mount in the center of the platform created by the flex pattern. Weird I know but it usually works out to being 1-3 cm back from true center.

the place I have found this makes real difference is on rockered skis where being in the center of the space between the two rocker start points makes it feel more like a centered ski without having the hinge of the ski to close to the binding.

i dunno if that makes sense. but thats my two cents.

As a ski instructor I know what he is talking about. Basicially when they teach to kids they want their stance out in front when you ride a center mount ski its near imposible to have that traiditional stance that you would have on a ski mounted at like negative 3 or 2 and try to use it on a center mount ski.

Center mount skis ride better and easier when you lean back its a given. So what he is trying to say that its bad for form and for skiing in general to use center mount. But the thing is, this is only concerning if you are outside of the park. To be honest, if you are doing rails, its so much easier to use a center mount ski. Or on a ski that is perfectly semetrical such as the afterbang. Its only when you are doing anything outside of park that this becomes an issue. And in most cases people ajust and have skis that are mounted accordingly if this is the case.

i feel no difference with the center mount than if i mount -1, i can still rip GS turns if i like, but it makes a big difference in the park
