Don't know if it's true and i hope not but slopestyle of the X games is cancelled to a big air comp

it's all in the title some people like jf houle and some other riders told me that this year the xgames change the slopestyle to a big air comp cause the sloe didn't get that much of audianceso that fucking suck
 
if they decided to cancel slopestyle for a big air comp then they should also run a rail jam.. Xgames rail jam would be so dope!!
 
that would suck big time, slopestyle is my favourite event to watch... big air would be the same as last year, where jon with the same trick as always won..

hope they keep the slopestyle
 
yeah i'm not gonna lie last years big air they were kinda riding his rolls-royce-with-ski-rack dick. no offence jon is the man, but i felt like nobody else had a chance of winning cause they kept talking about him.

X games slopstyle > X games big air
 
i hate the X-Games producers. theyre just assholes. look what they did to rollerblading.
 
If Slopestyle was canned for Big Air I would be utterly pissed. Big Air comps are so stupid, Slope is really about talent and consistency. I can see this from E$PN's point of view, they don't give a damn about the rider's opinion. Think about all the X-game$ sports they've gotten rid of, then they include crap like Rally and snowmobiling? Its all about the rating$.
 
This is rediculous...big air is bull shit. anyone can just huck a double...and hope the judges like it. Slopestyle involves the best overall skier which is real fun to watch...its a must. Fuck ESPN. SLOPESTYLE FTW
 
hope not, but if it is true I feel like dew tour will eventually make that shit bigger than x games so espn can go fuck themselves?
 
the only reason big air had a bigger audience last year is because they did it in fucking primetime with more fan fare and stupid cross-promotion (remember that shitty movie Jumper?) than anything ive ever seen

bottom line: slopestyle showcases the sport, big air gives gold medals to TJ Schiller and Jon Olsson. Both are good guys, but seriously, remember the sw 10 fest 2 years ago? That was just sad.

i think it would be a shame for slopestyle to get the axe, but i completely understand why. people can't stand in any one place and have a great view of the whole slopestyle course. but they can with pipe and big air. sure, slopestyle gives you a better idea of who is actually the better skier, but if big air will get more attention for skiing, then i guess i can swallow that pill.
if they do go through with this, i think, as someone said earlier, that it would be a great idea to hold some sort of rail jam to showcase some additional athletes.
 
That would be pretty fucking lame if they did that. Who the hell is going to wanna watch a bunch of skier throw the same double for an hour or two?
 
They should just light the slopestyle course and air it during primetime instead of the midday. This also takes care of any flat light problems.
 
this would be the complete opposite of cancelling it for a big air...by which i mean it would be about the best idea ever

seriously, do we need like 4 straight nights of primetime superpipe? no...the showcase event nights should be split between snowboard/ski pipe and slope, fuck every single other event, seriously

oh my god i do not want another primetime night devoted to snowmobile bullshit
 
Slopestyle is my favorite to watch and most active skiers like watching it too as it does show the better overall skiers... I think it's the fact that it has to be run during the day (not prime time TV) because of the lack of lights. Big air is run during prime time and attracts more audience... TV audience is obviously larger than the crowds in Aspen and that is where the sponsor money comes from. What I think ESPN isn't recognizing is the potential of slopestyle. Put some lights on the course, give it a better air-time and put a big air size jump at the bottom... I think that would give ratings a boost for slopestyle.

Is there a rumor on snowboard slope yet? What else would they have to talk about if Shaun White could only ride pipe?
 
they would get more views if they actualy cared about skiing. they make it feel like its just there to fill a hole. I swear their gonna replace it withsome bullshit like extreme curling or something.
 
Skiing has not peaked yet, it seems like we are getting more and more coverage. This no slopestyle could be a setback but I highly doubt we have peaked out. And like others have said, i would love to see a rail jam with a sick setup if they do this this big air only, hell I would love to see a rail jam even if there still is slopestyle. The only rails they had last year in slope was a box and the cannon thing.

I'm going to assume that this rumour is untrue. I'm part of the athlete selection committe, and we're certainly looking at slopestyle results and examining which athletes will compete in slopestyle.

This is directly from one of the organizers, and usually if there would be a change like that they would tell us.

 
Just got conformation from Chris Schuster, who is one of the organizers that the cancellation of slopestyle is NOT true.
There will be pipe and slopestyle in the X-games this year, just like always!

 
thats very good to hear but they gotta do something about being able to view it at buttermilk i live in aspen and went to event but stayed at home to watch ski slope course you could only see the last hit, why cant they have a huge screen at the bottom to watch the whole run?? they have like three over at the stupid snowmobile track

quit giving false hope. everyone knows they're making room for the big air to be held at the base lodge using a hip and a tow in feature.
 
Night slopestyle would be radical. Turn on the flood lights and watch that shit glow!
 
i wouldnt put it past them.. they tested the waters with the big air this year to see how it would be responded to.. i bet they will cancel slopestyle in the near future to cut costs.. especially if 'joe public' likes that more than the real athletes..
 
why? cuz he has done more kang flips in the last 2 years than i've done 360's in my whole life?? i don't care if i never see him do a dub again.....
