Don't hate, but I want some ski advice

I'm looking to pick up some new skis at the end of this season and wanted to get your opinions. Right now I ride Liberty SB180s for all-mountain and have a pair of original Troublemakers as beaters. I love my Libertys most of the time, but they get a little squirrely on hardpack. I'm looking for something about the same size and flex (i.e. 90-100mm waist and relatively stiff but still lively) with a little more torsional rigidity. My initial thoughts were Liberty Hazmat, Dynastar Big Trouble, or Rossignol Scratch BC/Brigade. Any other suggestions are welcome.

5'11" 155 lbs

50% all-mountain 50% park

Thanks

181 Salomon Guns have a 99 waist and are supposed to be sick.

182 foils have a 87 waist

181 4frnt MSP have a 92 waist

185 armada arv w/ a 95 waiste or 175 w/ 92 waist

182 Scott punisher w/ 89 waist

185 volkl bridge w/ 92 waist

Well one thing I would go against on hard-pack is anything with a foam core. I personally do not like foam cores on hard-pack..they are a bit squirrely and make a real wierd noise under your ski that annoys me real bad. I also have a pair of line Chronics and they are sturdy as can be on hard pack. They are a stiffer ski and hold a tight edge when sharp. Plus they are sick on jumps due to the fact of their stiffness. But the stiffness also makes them a little less fun. Since buttering is a little harder and they are not as playful on rails w/o being a real strong skier.

All this is my personal opinion on what kinds of skis I have ridden. I hope it helps.

I would also recommend Line chronic blends, Prophets, and elizabeths possibly. I have no really accurate information on these skis though

the 06/07 big troubles in 176cm, or 186cm are 92mm underfoot so not to fat for the park but enough width for powder, thats what im riding on right now and they'r sick. a little on the slow side though but a good waxing will fix that. also the wider base is super stable on landings.

How lively are they? My TMs had more life when they were new than anything I've ever ridden. I know that the BTs are stiffer, but do they still give a lot back?

P.S. I've demoed the Salomon Guns and thought they were too soft, but the Gun Labs are stiffer, aren't they?

I think they can be pretty playfull around the mountain, i know that they'r stiffer then the guns but salomons have always seemed softer to me. i couldnt tell you about how well they hold up over time seeing as how this is my first season on them but they'r doing great so far. I dont know if youv ever ridden any volkl twintips but i would say these are softer then volkl's and stiffer then salomons if that helps at all.

That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.

I hate to abandon Liberty because they were the best company I've ever dealt with (e.g. they rushed my first pair out to me so I could have them in time for a trip out west, and when I split my tip jumping on ice they sent me new ones with rivets in the tips and tails.) Does anyone have any opinions on the Hazmats? I found a pretty good deal on them online.

How long do they ski? I think I'm leaning toward the 186 Big Troubles and mounting them maybe three or four centimeters back from center, but I don't know if they would be too big. I have 175 TMs mounted center, and I feel like they're too small to rip all mountain.

yeah then definitly go for the 186's, they ski a bit short b/c of they'r huge tip and tail so the edge your laying down is probably only about 178cm in length or so. and for all mountain ridin including park i would say 2-3cm back from center but im not expert on that, just my personal preferance and i dont really know what kind of terrain your looking at.

Now that I think about it, 2 or 3 back sounds better than 4 or 5. When it's good snow, I'm always in the mood to find some freshies, but otherwise I get bored and will spend entire days in the park.

yeah man, it will still eat pow for breakfest at 2cm back, thats where i have mine mounted and i havn't had a problem in pow yet maby 3cm back for the 186's though. Im on the 176's and love them but still wish i would have gone w/ the 186's b/c they do ski a little short and the length would have definitly helped w/ the speed and i never do bumps cause they'r not very fun to me so i dont need a shorter length all mountain ski for that.
