im sitting here writing this post at 640 am in the morning, my 3 best friends are in mammoth ripping up some of the best conditions of the year/lapping a sick park. i could have gone had it not been for being in lame at school at USC and i just want to tell more people to skip college or just bum it because if you have been to college you realize 99 percent of the people are morons and u cant stand them... all i want to do is say fuck this shit but of course i have midterms/quizes for the first time barely all semester and they fall during the least opportune time

cherish your time before you have to grow up that is all

u should have gone to a college closer in proximity to dope skiing, like u of u where u could take the midterm and be at snowbird in 30 minutes

yea i can't ski nearly as much as i would like to cuz i have classes five days a week. but i'm just gonna be a ski bum after college, and then when i want to make money i have that degree to fall back on

I dont know i kinda like going to college, getting to party all the time, and i ski more cause i am 20 min from the mountain. Maybe you should have thought of that?

If you're complaining about losing ski time, I can break it down a bit for you here. I am not in school this year and I work at a mountain so I ski every day I go to work. One of my friends is a full-time student at MSU. I have 60 days of skiing this season and he has 56. Granted I didn't ski much earlier this year because it sucked, but you should get the point.

Dude go to a college like this one, Western State Western.edu, Crested Butte is 30 minutes away and Monarch is 45. Go to school tuesdays and thursdays and the rest of the time is free for skiing. I go to college now but i worked at vail for awhile and i get about the same amount of skiing no matter if i am at school or working at the resort. I am going to Western next fall so I can ski more and drive less.

first of all, go fuck some usc bitchs, they're dumb cuz they need to be fucked to feel some self worthiness. If utah is a ski college, usc is fuck a bitch every nite college. Now to everyone else, worst advice ever. Dont go to college? Now thats dumb. Go to a ski college.

well i really couldn't justify going to some of the schools really close to the mountains when i had the grades to go to a legit school, usc is cool and all and i did apply to places like cu-boulder and what not and considered the u of utah i just knew i would have fucked up and prob would have dropped out

and if i really want to i can go skiing every weekend in mammoth its just i had assloads of work that i couldnt bring with me and no ride back to be back in time for my midterms

i really want to take next winter off from school and work at mammoth... im mainly just bummed my buddy is out here from ohio to ski and im not there

and by legit i meant just a school that is like top tier and i knew i wouldnt be close enough to let skiing ruin my college academics... cu and utah are good schools i just wanted to clarify that

taking a semester off is key, especially at usc. take summer classes, learn to surf better, fuck more hot bitchs. And these days its all about how well u do not where u go. so do well even if u think usc is better than most school

brmn has the idea... thanks for saving some kids from actually listening to my retarded rant im just bitching on ns because i woke up at 630 due to my roommates annoying drunk snoring etc.

networking/interning somewhere is also key in addition to just doing well in school

Get a degree at a college near a mountain, any ski resort, and then be a ski bum after, its very easy to do. The greatest key to being a ski bum is not college or jobs, its relationships, if you develop close friends, family or girlfriends thats what will really stop you from ski bumming!

im staying in pa to go to college. atleast the mountains near my college are better than the ones i ski at now. thats all that matters.

this thread should be called "DONT go to USC" . go to the university of utah, shit is so close to everything, it is so easy to go to school and shred your brains out.

yeah i know i ski with abe and matty and am on the team with them, and whoever said the stuff about relationships is right, fuckin girlfriends who always want to see u are the worst cockblock of skiing for sure

im mainly just bitter my friends dicked me out of mammoth by being selfish and rescheduling the trip so it was impossible for me to go due to midterms and such

i am like them, i go skiing about as much as them maybe a little less due to my gf and being hurt for a good period of time due to a bad concussion. if you all read i was basically bitching about this particular weekend and how i fuckin hate being denied skiing with one of my best friends who came out from ohio just to ski mammoth and i cant ski with him simply due to midterms

skiing in college just takes self-discipline. there are physics PhDs at U Washington who go touring every weekend in the North Cascades.

abe and matty.. do hold it down. but man. usc is in the shittyist part of town.. and you got to drive 4 hours to get to the shred..

yeah no skool no reason not to ski!

here's even better advice for the kids. SMOKE CRACK.

nah. but working in the winter is the same as going to school in my books. unless you work in a bar at night or something cool like that.

yeah usc is in the ghetto i thought there was a terrorist attack or gunshots this morning at like 5am it scared the shit out of me, had to do with la marathon i think

Having graduated from UCLA, I won't say that going to a good college is great for skiing, but I had a fucking good time. As long as you don't totally shackle yourself with debt, it's worth it.

Can't say the same about law school though.

move to japan! rumors says they have night open ski hills there! so with alot of coffee and probably some heavy drugs you can ski all night, sleep 2 hours, go to school, get home, sleep 3 hours and then ski all night!!!

werd. and also just dont be an over-achiever and take hard classes. with the classes I'm taking I dont have that much work so I can still ski like 3 full days a week most weeks. so what if you miss a couple weeks each season for exams dude, when you're like 50 you will have a nice comfy life and you friends we be coke heads driving tow trucks who just got out of jail (long story)

you are r e t a r t e d go to college you dumb fuck ur life doesnt revolve around right now for you shit continues and ur gana want that education

so quit your fucking bitching. you chose to go there and sometimes plans get fucked over. your going to college because you value the education, sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order to make your priorities line up.

and to the dude that said something about usc being the fuck a bitch every night school...that is precisely why i didn't go there, even though i was admitted.

i am trying to convince my dad to let me take the winters off and go to school in the summer, but I have a lot of time to think about all of that, I need a back up plan if he wont let me, so I am gona need to find a good scedual plan for the future

take one maybe two years out skiing before college and one or two after. So what if you have to buy a house a bit later, you aint gonna be young forever.

in five years they will probably still be skiing and having an awesome time, in 15 or 20 years when they are like 40 years old then their lives will suck.

so mabye you should take like 8 years off and go to college when you actually care about it.

umm usc is hardly by any means in the top echelon of party schools anymore... they actually care about moving up the rankings and becoming a nationally recognized university for things beyond just football

sure there is the occassionally apartment party, but its not that huge of a party school like wisconsin, west virginia, etc. if i wanted to NEVER ski for a whole semester while pledging a fraternity i could have "partied it up" but like i said i get mad if i cant ski due to something such as a midterm, let alone getting hazed

and to whoever asked mammoth is 5 hours from downtown los angeles roughly and bear mountain is about 1.5 hours or so
