well some were deffinitly pointless because some people dont know what they are talking about and should stay out of it, im not gunna lie i have noclue, but im just looking for jibtechs posts because they are the most source comming from someone who knows way more than most of you who thihnk you know.

I've liked MSP's movies a lot and I thought they've all been good, but hearing stuff like this makes me less likely to buy more movies from them. I definitly will be getting movies from some of the newer flimmakers out there. PBP and Level 1 have been doing some really great stuff.

I think it is detrimental to MSP to try to hurt other companies. The more these other companies grow, the more the whole industry grows. It's not like people can't buy more than one movie. If other companies make good movies, I'll buy those too.

People seriously need to get off bermans cock...there are many other companies that are progessing skiing more (ie. iberg, plehouse, theory-3, sas, etc...), People need to stop treating him as some sort of prophet. In my opinion Strike 3 was easily L1P's peak (for now), it was done very well and incorporated a lot of ideas that Berman hadn't really used before. Berman has replicated alot of what was done in Strike 3 a bit too much in his latest works (obviously opinion). He needs to get out of the hip hop dominated slump he has created and aim more at shortening his films because by the time 45 minutes rolls around it feels like its been way too long (opinion). I think this is a huge difference that makes snowboarding movies so much better/more interesting, their ability to have a banging feel good flick that generally is not longer than 30-35 minutes. It leaves you wanting more, not wanting less, as opposed to many ski movies. This obviously doesn't just apply to L1P, more just a statement about ski movies in general.

MSP ratted on iberg for using unliscensed footage. they also tried to buy wski106 away from PBP as well as succeeded in keeping helly hansen not sponsor Wski as heavily as they were going to.

Sorry guys...but the filming in Yearbook and the rotational heli shots of tanner and friends hitting that huge hip was pure art...hands down some of the best editing and filiming of our sport...

are they too high budget for y'all, whats the beef...jealouse???

Their filmakers and editors have put many tahoe freinds in the spotlight...I have nothing bad to say cause all I have seen are good flicks and great coverage of some ripping tahoe locs....

are they not "core" enough for ya??? what the fk does that mean anyway???

if skiing and videos are not made to appeal to the general public our sucess will be limited...and MSPs movies are our generations equivelnt of warren miller....we need those two weekend a year rich yuppy skiers to be into our sport, to be excited enough to buy their kiddies (most of which are on this site acting core) new skis every year. It is their money that keep us alive...juvenile films may be more entertaining and relate better to the kiddies but the money comes from mom and dad...and they need to see huge movies with big mountains and helicopters and avalances and all that other stuff that the typical jib flick lacks....

sorry but msp's movies fill a vital role for our industry...like it or not

 
Give Jeffy a helicopter and a few million of MSP's budget and you'll see just how sad their actual moviemaking skills are. They could be doing so, so much more with what they have. Yearbook licked legions of nuts. The best segment aside from Abma's was in the fucking extras.

But that's not what this thread is about. MSP could be making movies a thousand times better than everyone else (they're not) or have every good skier on earth skiing for them (they don't), that wouldn't change the fact that their company is run by a bunch of complete twats. That's what we're talking about here, not whether you like the heli shots.

Why do you guys care so much about what someone said one time? If someone taped everything you said and posted it I am sure it would piss someone off. The beef is between them, not all of us. If you like the movie buy it, if not save your money. If you hate the way MSP does business and you want to boycott them then you better look at every business you support: stores, restaurants, gas stations, all the way down to paying rent to your asshole landlord. With that attitude after a while you would start to find things in every company you don't like. Steve is one many that work for that company and he is not a bad guy. This is all pretty ridiculous. I like to watch skiing. MSP is a company that provides me with high quality skiing to watch... I'm going to continue to watch their films.. and anyone that doesnt think straight airing enormous cliffs is worthy of such films, should burn. hah

and Skodeo7, I agree with what your saying. But at the same time I wouldnt want that shit to just change next year. I dont want skiing to be just like snowboarding and the only way to do that is find our way on our own. So if it takes a few years of shitty movies for Josh Berman to find his way that so be it. Plus snowboarding was just like this three-four years ago...it was a bunch of shitty long ass movies with mediocer(sp) music.

I really like snowboarding and part of the industry is really cool(neoproto, Kids Know Productions: all the holden guys, etc.) But most of the rest of their industry sucks more than skiing does.

I would really like skiing to feel like the good side of snowboarding does. But skiing needs to find that on its own through experimenting with things they havent done and so forth.

Dare I say it? Seth Morrison is crazy, but overrated. He barely lands anything, which in my mind, is just eating shit. Powder is fun, but WAY overrated. REALLY boring to watch. MSP videos are worth watching just to see skiers you like, but you have to admit they are a bit backwards. Rainville's song in yearbook was fucking gay, and re-using songs is lame as fuck.

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
