Oh, one more thing... I'm not saying Seth Morrison is not an amazing skier... he is an amazing big mountain skier... but I don't put him in the same pool as newschool skiers such as dave crichton

MSP's movies are really boring with lots of recycled footage and songs all set in slow motion-every year. It is pretty lame after a while. To everyone else, there are some pretty core bigmountain companies that bring you generaly the same things as MSP, I don't rember the name in perticular but there on Big Lines, and they have Hugo as one of their riders, Breathe and Stop has amazing bigmountain footage also, their stuff is much more interesting to watch than MSP. So there are a lot of options out there, plus McConkey and Seth arn't going to be have these huge segments for much longer.

 
Dfresh why are you such a fagget. Why would you bag on big mountain skiing? Tell me exactly whats wrong with being scruched in a heli with Hugo and Seth on your sides looking at lines that have never been skied. Then actually skiing the lines that may never be repeated. Your jealus for two reasons: one you can't ski big mountains and two you have no balls. You would never even get out of the heli. Give it up.

 
msp clearely sucks!

it's all slo-motion, no intensity at all in the movie, nothing just plain slow-motion stuff always... and I don't think they have the same vision as level 1 or other similar filmcrew.

they are more from a big corporation than a true companie dedicated to skiing.

Most of you are missing the point. This isn't about MSP or the riders in their movies, or who's pushing 'newschool' or not. It's about fucked up actions on the part of certain individuals at MSP to screw over other film companies. You're not pushing the sport when you're trying to put your competitors out of business by, for example, calling your competitors' sponsors and telling them lies about how much your competitor sucks.

whoa, the reaction from some ppl on this site amaze me. #1 I simply said watch this bonus feature and then never buy MSP again. Did I try and shove an opinion down your throat? No, I said watch the feature first. Kamikaze said it right, we are not trying to say the big mountain in MSP is not good, yes seth is a good skier, and obviously you are not going to buy L1P if you ONLY ski powder.

BUT, when i have time, i will write down what Steve Winter said, and im sure ppl on here, who arent fuckards like some of you, will be shocked and see what a queer this hguy really is.

i'm sorry i havent seen high five, but still MSP is the only one out there that puts out big moutain skiing. Seth Morrison, and Shane McConky are only found in MSP movies and they are the ones who are really pushing the sport. Hugo Harrison films with like only MSP and Pimpin' Frogs Productions, and i dont feel that they are putting out the best movies out there. Hugo might be filming with TGR im not sure but he is mainly in MSP. I'm still gonna buy whatever MSP puts out cause the movies actually have big moutain unlike these silly new film companies that are like park, park and park.

okay, i definatly see your point. I think that its good that you guys support your riders no matter what. I do to, seth has been one of my favorite skiers for so long. And i am definatly curious to see what his segment is liek this year.

The thing is, when I hear Winter saying shit like 'Yeah basically, Ive talked to a LOT of sponsors, and they want to see their skiers in MSP's movie, they are thinking of cutting all the little guys sponsorship money to do so..,.. lates bro!'

that shit pisses me off, and for that reason, if i want to see an MSP movie, i will burn it or download it off the net....

Guys, listen, I'm not saying big mountain skiers suck... sure I'd rather watcha sick rail then aline, that is not the point of this... I'm defending the companies I support and the riders I support... that is why it might seem like im ragging on msp big mountain riders. But I fully support the level 1 crew... and I'll take them anyday over msp... oh and if you do want to watch big mountain watch breathe and stop... its more interesting beacuse they throw stuff off cliffs also... but I'm a jibber guys... and I want this industry to progress... and msp is not doing that...

Hey Dishwallla, why do you care if they cut sponsorship money from the guys that aren't the cream of the crop. I think all the money should go to a select few. There is only so much money so why not have a few really benifit from it all rather have everyone. Who do want to see, the best or everyone that can do a 360 tail grab.

nobody is saying any particular skier sucks. Its all about the film companies and how MSP, the bigger company is pushing out the core companies, like Level 1. Sure its just buisness, but that shit is so gay and as the consumers we have to decide ourselves who to support and by not buying MSP shit, then they will get less money and power to pull their sketch ass shit...

I didn't follow what has been previously said, but i just yesterday went to a yearbook premier, and their is no worse movie out than yearbook. It was sooooo cookie cut. Those suckers at MSP, i bet it cost more money for them to make that than any other movie this year. That movie sucks, period

 
The reason that they have money is because goobers like like 'Ice-is-scary' keep on buying their garbage movies. Imagine what L1P could produce if they had half of Matchstick's comparatively massive budget. MSP is unable to appeal to our growing niche of the sport; this terrifies them, and they consequently bully everyone else. Obviously they are going to try to monopolize the industry since they are the biggest, but there is NO need for their business ethics or general bullshit. If you like to see big budget movies with good skiing, buy the movies produced by 'core' companies so that they can grow to become as big as Matchstick. Then they will produce movies that have a good mix of talent, music, big mountain, jibbing and so on. Do you think Level 1 can pay for a heli trip? No, because you just bought Ski Movie 17 instead of High 5, bitches.

This place is a fucking wasteland. It'll be a cold day in hell before I buy a Level 1 movie now, so you might as well post whatever it was that offended you so much, dipshit. I didn't like Focused much, but I think Yearbook was the best movie this year. Abma's and Ingrid's segments were the definitions of progress. New riders making a big mark on film. Ski movies are a business. I don't know what this bullshit is that you're whining about - because you won't tell us - but you're nuts if you think these companies are all going to be nice to each other, especially when they're competing for the same pot of money in sponsorships.

 
Let me ste something straight here. I hate MSP too, but what you're saying Liam doesnt make sense. If you like big mountain, ('m not a huge fan) we are supposed to buy all-jib movies for 4 or 5 years until they can afford to film some AK? Sounds like a good fix!

Msp could film rails all day if they wanted too. How am I a goober for liking their movies? I've watched High 5 and yearbook both in the last two days. I thought high 5 was fun and had a good soundtrack but it was a bit to repetitive on the rails and midgets from maine that act like they are from the 'hood'. If that is the growing niche your refering to I hope it dies. Yearbook had great camerawork (progressive in my opinion) soundtrack was so-so, the base jumping thing drug out a bit to long. But as far as skiing goes there was plenty of good big lines, park hits and rails. I dont see what the problem is with their movies.

Let me know when you do something more progressive than that. Also if you ever saw seths early movies, or the chronicles, you can see him hitting hips, quarter pipes, throwing 7s over road gaps, way before others, so shut the fuck up about seth not being a 'Newschooler'

I think tanners comment in yearbook was pretty much dead on. the movies over my friends house so I can't quote exactly but the general theme was; He's looking forward to taking more of his tricks into the backcountry because when you can do it in the backcountry off inperfect takeoffs and landings, then you go back into the park where all the factors are undercontrol, landings,takeoffs are all built perfectly, then it becomes a lot easier to be stylie and go big.

UTskier, you like it in the ass. L1P made a movie that is fun to watch with probably an 1/8 of the budget. I'd donate money if i was rich for more of that shit in an instant. MSP spends like 5 mil on helmet cam and gets some fagots to go base jumping for a day. Then they throw a song to it and hey, they got a bullshit movie that sells.
